I've got a few projects that need to be bedded and glued. I've used accra glass before and find it pretty easy to use. I don't use much, just a little bit now and again. My problem is most of the stuff hardens up before I can use it. Is there anything I can do to keep it longer ? Is there a different product that works as well that won't harden up after a couple months?

"Red box" Acra-Glas changed somehow about five years ago. The resin partially hardens on its own after time. I once called Brownells about this, and while they admitted to the problem, could suggest no solution - other than buying a new package of the stuff. Now that I think about it, that may be the psychology behind the resin hardening...

Nonetheless, it's the best stuff out there. And it's not that expensive.

Thanks for the reply, I just hate seeing good stuff go bad, was hoping there was a trick like freezing it to keep it good.

I have had two parts of acraglass here for over 2 years and both are still just fine. The hardener will change consistency with temperature, but that is it.

epoxy can be brought back to life if you microwave it, be careful and do it for 5 seconds at a time. of course in their separate containers. system 3 people told me of this. brownells just wants to sell you more I have done this on 10 yrs old epoxy and it WORKS.

Thanks for that tip with the microwave. It seemed like it hardened up after 6-7 months I still have the stuff, couldn't just throw it out without asking. I was very careful about covering the separate jars tightly right after use. Am glad I held on to it. My stuff is the accra glass gel. I think next time I buy some I'll buy the red (regular).

You may find this hard to believe but I had some for 20 years and it still worked. I just used a heat gun to soften it.
