What would you like to add to your Parker collection in 2018?? I know most times if your looking to fill a slot in your gun collection it never comes along. I'm still in the hunt for a nice green pine cone catalog and original #3 frame 12ga's in P,G and V grade. 2017 was a good year I sold a GHE 16ga, 12ga CHE Bernard and a 12ga D hammer gun, I bought a NH #6 frame 10ga and a project DH with a Monte Carlo stock. What about you??

First a GH 16 Damascus 26" or 28" on an 0 frame ( a VH in the same configuration with fluid steel would be ok as well) . Secondly a VH or VHE 28 gauge preferably 26 or 28 inch barrels . And lastly an EH or NH 26" or 28" hopefully with rather open chokes . We do all the factory repair work in the USA for Fausti and I realize they're not Parkers but I've had it in my head for about five years I'd like one of the Fausti O/U double rifles in 444 Marlin .

High condition small bore Parkers. Especially hammer guns. But I would rather not buy any more unfired Parkers - just very high original condition.

I'd like to add a late Remington era gun, preferably a Skeet Gun.

Something smaller than a 12 gauge.. A 16 gauge 0 frame, PH or GH choked for upland hunting.

what I am looking forward to

that mythical "been in one family since new 10 gauge" for which, one of my favorite antique dealers, says he has said he has a deal going on- for the last month :banghead:

saw him yesterday - he told me the owner was in this week - still didn't bring it in :crying:

other than that -- a 16 gauge hammer gun, that hole may be filled -i'll know soon

I've got, at last count, 8 20ga. Parkers from 26"-32", damascus and steel, 4 16ga. from 26"-32", damascus and steel and 2 28ga. I'm not saying I would'nt jump on another if the right smallbore Parker came along but right now I'm focusing on smallbore (20ga) Foxes.

I had a very good 2017 as far as adding to my Parker collection is concerned. I am going to "try" and focus on one or two special guns for 2018. These could include:

A 16 gauge, maybe a PH and/or grade 0 or 1 hammer gun
An 8 gauge hammer gun, lifter or top action
A grade 3 lifter in 12 or 10
And of course there is always that random Parker that I don't know I am looking for until I see it

Looking forward to seeing how I make out :)

Well ,it would be fun to find that Proverbial Needle in a Hay Stack but this is it , in 2017 I found a set of 12 Gauge ,Twist Steel Barrels with the Trojan Rib Extension , very good condition ,the thing is they are off of a Trojan Grade ,1 Frame gun ! I know this sounds impossible, but I would really like to add the rest of the gun to my collection in 2018 , Serial# 173981 ! If you happen to have it ,give me a call !

I have been looking for years for the right DH or DHE-16 Gun must have its SSBP and modern dimensions of 14 1/4 1 3/8 2 1/2 I shoot 1 1/4 by 2 1/4 best but that would be a tall order! About 6lbs-4oz but well under 7lbs. I do not want a 12 weight gun with 16 holes! 28" barrels with some choke or 30" Mod/x-full for out west. Thanks all...SXS Ohio

Dean Romig

Kenny, you have that Repro with the 16 ga. barrels that should fill that bill.

I did some trading last year for a Lefever 16ga Optimus, a Purdey light game gun and an AE Fox 20 with 30 inch tubes.

2018 will bring a wonderful CHE 16 with 80% case color and 30 inch barrels on a #1 frame. I'm not really looking for anything and there is nothing I really want or need:shock:

Hummm... A 16g DH, preferentially a 0-frame, with Damascus barrels, straight stock and SSBP. What I am really looking for is more time to shoot the guns I have and chase my setters around northern Michigan.

2 Parkers:
1. 16g GH/GHE, 1892-1895 manufacture date, 0-frame, with 30 inch Damascus barrels, would prefer a quality original but a project gun would be work.
2. 10 gauge GH/GHE, 1892-1895 manufacture date, 3-frame, with 30 or 32 inch Damascus barrels, would prefer a quality original but a project gun would be work.

Nothing to add. I'm giving them away to family and friends. When I look at the rack, I say to myself "What was I thinking?" When it's over, I'll be down to a .22, a 7 X 57, a 20ga SKB and 12ga Beretta 686. I enjoy all the others but possessions are a burden.

I'm also considering going English

Thanks for this thread. It’s like a group WTB post.

OK............ I throw these in

First gun,,,,,,I will pay Strong for a 16 G or D Damascus ssbp 28" 1 frame

Second gun, I will pay strong for a 28 V or G or D 00 frame 26" or 28"

I love Steve Barnett's 28 but who doesn't.....

I am always on the look out for and would love to add Parker Bros serial
# 207429, which is:

DHE 20 ga on a #1 frame, no safety, PG, SFE, DT, with 34" titanic barrels weighing in at 8 and 1/2 pounds.

I also would not turn my nose up at a 34" fluid steel barreled 10 ga hammerless gun.

A Pigeon configured 12, straight grip, no safety, 32” tubes...graded higher than V.
Gr.3 early lifter hammers
A total “basket case” smallbore that still goes (BANG)!
Fox “skeet and upland” or “brush gun” in 16

Great year for me this year, scored a nice original configured 3 frame GH 12 and a really decent first year lifter 10, $150 dollar grade.

I would like to find an affordable .410.

I did some trading last year for a Lefever 16ga Optimus, a Purdey light game gun and an AE Fox 20 with 30 inch tubes.

Huh... A 16g Optimus? As far as i know there is only one known to exist and remains in a long time private collection. A few “clones” are known of. Was it one of those?

Dean Romig
12-31-2017, 08:51 PM
If all of the original Lefever factory records were lost in the fire, how would we know that only one Optimus in 16 gauge was ever made?

Please forgive my ignorance if tha answer is obvious.

.

Brian Dudley
12-31-2017, 09:59 PM
Well,
One can not be sure, I suppose. That is where vetting each example comes into play i suppose, no different than any other maker. Like i said, one 16g is known of and that one was connected to Charles Green. 2 copies are known to exist (engraved nearly identical to the green gun).

The Lefever Optimus is one of the most copied high grade shotguns out there. And the lack of records is exactly the reason why.

Josh Loewensteiner

There is more than 1 authentic 16ga Optimus Lefever extant. And yes, that is on my 2018 wishlist.

My wants may have been satiated for a while, as I was finally able to find, and afford, a higher grade Parker. It's a 16 gauge AH on a 1 frame (and weighs 6 lbs. 8 oz.). It was made in 1927, and unfortunately no records exist for it. What a wonderful little gun. My thanks to the gentleman who ordered it without ejectors and with a lighter than normal weight -- just as I would have.

I did not plan on adding another Parker till at least late Summer or Fall. While browsing the usual auction sights I stumbled upon Parker 41732. Grade 0 10, top lever hammer that has been sanded with an old refinish. Plain and simple. However my late Father gave me 41730. It gets better. The gun is located no more than 50 miles from where I grew up in northern Wisconsin. I would believe they may have been sold from the same hardware store which used to be located in the Twin Cities. For these two guns to be that close in proximity at one time and of course 2 #'s apart blows my mind. Its the only Parker I own that I would like pair with another, be the same configuration, and be as close as possible in serial #. The gun is on Gun Broker. I will try to purchase this gun..... I know my Dad would be as amazed as much as I hope to be. Yes Mr. Romig I can hear the PPS story writing itself too :)

Mills Morrison

I had planned to have a gun moratorium for all of 2018. Well, that has already gone out the window and a Grade 1 12 gauge top lever hammer gun with laminated barrels is on the way as we speak. Having thrown that resolution out, I hope to get some more examples of Grade 2 Parkers, particularly from eras not represented in my collection.
