Just thought I'd share this if your interested.

I bought a 1/2 frame VHE-12ga from a member here earlier in the year. I've been doing some work to the gun and came across an interesting identification stamping under the top tang of the frame. I know the barrel lug stamp & frame measurements are method's of identifying a half frame, but this is new a marking to me in that I can't remember this being mentioned as a way to help identify a 1/2 frame gun. Let me know your thoughts!

It certainly appears to be an original factory stamp. I haven't seen a frame size stamp there before, but I haven't had more than a half-dozen Parkers that far apart.

Dave do you mean just half frame Remington guns or all late Remington guns?

That is the first tims i have seen an example of that marking on the tang of a hammerless Parker. The only other example i have seen of an actual frame size marking on frames is on a frew hammer gun frames of 3 and 4 size have had these numbers stamped on them.

This marking makes sense as to avoid factory confusion with 0 frames aince they are similar.

Eric, I see this mark on 1/2 frame guns only.

I've had several Parkers apart and haven't noticed any frame size markings until I came across this one. I looked the parker story over along with some other sources and have found no mention of this stamp for 1/2 frame I.D. Is there anyway to archive this information for easily accessible reference?
