Is it somehow possible that I am first to receive my copy here on the rolling plains of North Texas?
Doubtful, but Dean and the writers have outdone themselves as usual!

I haven't received my personal copy yet, just my carton of complimentary copies for contributors.
I'm pleased with the way this issue looks and reads.
Thanks very much to all who contributed material.

Thanks very much Charles. I tried to do my best on the photography of that neat little Parker but the pictures were so small it is difficult to really see the detail very well. My fault because I assigned too many pictures per page and collectively they all just took up too much space.
In a couple of weeks, after everybody has received his issue I will post those pictures here where everybody can enlarge them individually.

Dean I really enjoyed the article on the Skeet Gun ,I would Love to see the Floor Plate engraving ,4 Pheasants I am Guessing ? It is a Beautiful Gun ,if you managed to acquire it ,you are a Very Fortunate Man ! Thank You for the Great PP! :)

It's not for sale Russ. The owner and I covered that possibility quite thoroughly in our first meeting.
The floor plate is the cover photo. I only wish I had realized the quality of the picture wasn't up to my standards before I returned the gun.

Dean, enjoyed the article on the find of John Ellioitt`s skeet gun... Could he be the brother of the famous Elliott family that started Elliott`s shooting park in Kansas City? J.A.R (Jim) the great live bird shooter, Robert S. (Uncle Bob) and Dave came west to Kansas City in the late 1880`s. I know they had a brother named John who never joined the venture. I believe John had a son
Jack who did come west to help in the family business...
Best regards

I am sorry they wouldn't part with it Dean ,I am sure you would have enjoyed adding it to your collection ,she is a Beauty ! I should have realized the cover photo was the Gun must be an early Senior Moment ,at least I was right about the four Pheasants !
Dean Romig
09-01-2017, 09:23 PM
Randy, there is no family relation between the two.
J. A. R. Elliott and John Elliot spell their names differently.

Thanks Dean... wasn`t sure, thought the article had Elliot with two T`s.

Great job, Dean. What is the story of the Parker pictured on page 34 with no caption, the more than strange Parker? Thanks.

That is the prototype .410 owned by the NRA Museum in Fairfax and featured in a recent Parker Pages.

I still don't have mine. I'm sure the ignorant city council of the "Capital of Resistance" (Charlottesville) has had the FBI confiscate all gun related magazines and investigate the recipients for crimes against humanity. I wondered why those people in black ninja outfits were hiding behind trees outside my house when I took the dog out at night.

Yes Dean, I also saw your "peaceful riot" in Boston. It is amazing how the news reported that mob blocking police in riot gear and their vehicles for what looked like an hour. So I'll hold out hope.
I'll check my mailbox today.

I was at sea transporting a load of gasoline, and diverting from our scheduled course (which would have been Tampa), when my copy of the Fall issue was delivered. So, it was today, being now home, that I had an opportunity to start reading it. I have learned about Dean Romig's singular experience discovering the John Elliott family 20 gauge, and just finished with the first of a number of essays on the Parker Mystique -- the piece by Mike Franzen, the originator of the new column.
Were I to put the newsletter down right now (which I won't) there is nothing I would have needed to read, view, or listen to for the rest of the evening for me to be thoroughly entertained. And, stirred as well, as the 20 gauge Elliott skeet gun article moved me to compare the engraving on my father's 1915-issue DHE 12 gauge, with the Remington-era DHE engraving depicted in the piece. Now, if I could only find out whose initials those are on the shield of Dad's DHE....
Next up for me to read are further contributions in the new column, which are sure to be engaging.
Only PGCA Members receive this publication, right?
Thank you Mike Franzen for your idea for such a column, for your riveting essay, and many thanks to the many volunteer contributors, editors and activists behind PARKER PAGES For the American Sportsman.

Yes Russ, only PGCA Members receive Parker Pages, as well as our paying advertisers each receiving a single proof copy.
And thank you for your eloquent praise for all who contributed to make this a very fine issue.

You're welcome Edgar. I would also like to again thank all of the members who took the time to put down their thoughts and helped create the article. Now get out there and show your friends and family what you did. Who knows, they may even become infected by The Parker Mystique. :-)

Red over white over red?
I thought you retired. I'm jealous.
Russell E. Cleary

Edgar:
For us there was no requirement for red over white over red, as we were not restricted in ability to maneuver. Just pushing a loaded barge down the East Coast, so white over white.
No, not retired yet; that would put too much of a crimp on my buying stuff I want, but don't need.
