At last months Board meeting, the subject turned to guns ?? One of the members said his father had a gun in a "little leather case", that he bought years ago..and thought it was a 20 gauge. He put 20 gauge shells in it and shot it once..He discovered it was a 16 and never shot it again..So..I told him to bring it to the next meeting. Last night he shows up with a LOM case..but it was about 2/3 the size of all I've seen. He opens it up..and out comes the best Ithaca 16 Nitro I've ever seen. Colors are 95%..wood is near perfect..and blue is outstanding with one scratch on left tube..26" barrels..Ithaca marked buttplate..and of course number match. I asked what he would take, and he said he gave $650 when he thought it was a 20..but would take $500 now..I offered $400 just because of condition..Should I go to $500 ?...thanks..jerry

If you want the gun fifty bucks should not be a deal breaker. Give him the extra fifty otherwise you will be kicking yourself later.......

Forget the "quit" part; you're well beyond the point of no return now... you're life as you knew it is over.... just over!

Heck, with that condition and a LOM; sounds like a sweet deal to me!

I agree with the "quit" part, I just slowed down a few years ago. 11 years ago I sold part of my collection to help my son get started in his biz..and to buy the small farm next to our farm in the Ozarks. One man bought 77 guns..including 18 Parkers, LC, Fox, and a couple English guns. Another bought my 1919 Browning on tripod..(.308/Semi)..a Bren, and a Sten..The moving company in Palm Beach Co. refused to put guns or ammo. on the truck, so I rented a UHAUL trailer and brought them myself.. Found a couple good deals in the last couple months, so I'm back in. I appreciate the welcome that I got after the long absence, and even got my old membership number again..347..I bought my first Parker in 1977..a PH 20..and have had many others over the years. Dean R. bought some things years ago..and I recall buying some things from members then..Truly a group of gentlemen....jv..

It's worse than smoking. You can quit temperarely but it comes back to haunt you over and over.

I've seen a lot of great deals missed over 50, or a hundred bucks. When you see a great deal, just say "I like it, sounds fair, I'll take it".
I did that very move on a clean little CJ7 Jeep last week, from a recently widowed elderly woman.
She said she had to have $3500.00, I didn't argue, just said "I like this Jeep, it's a fair price, I'll take it".
Done!

Todd you are spot on. I have missed a few guns over the years by hesitating or trying to get a few dollars knocked off. Some missed deals still haunt me.

Can you PM me the name of the fellow who bought 77 guns from you? The Lovely Linda wants to meet him.

Bill..I'll bet she does !...Really, When we moved to our farm, I put a list together..sent it to a few people..Cabelas called, and a couple other dealers made some noise. One dealer, who shall remain nameless..drove to West Palm to see the guns in person. He was first..and brought cash..A deal was made..
