Who Was F.A. Elliott?

A very special Lefever No. 8026 (?) was made especially for this gentleman... a VERY Special gun with Bernard barrels and very fine and elaborate engraving with the engraving on the top rib stating that it was "Made Expressly For F. A. Elliott." Somebody recently said the gun was a "side cocker." I looked a bit on the LA84 website and find that one F.A. Elliott was a pretty decent pigeon shooter, according to a few entries in American Field.

Can anyone hazard a guess as to how many Lefevers were made with Bernard barrels and can anyone share some information on this gentleman?

From where did you get the info on the name? I am wanting to locate the owner of the gun. I had the bernard barrels and forend and sold them. And now the barrels are for sale again.

The gun now wears krupp barrels and was in a 2013 issue of the LACA newsletter as it walked into vegas. But Dr Bob did not have the name of the guy who owned it.

Just a shot in the dark but J.A.R. Elliott had 3 brothers. Don't know their names.

For those who are interested, I now have the barrels but not the forend which was with them when Brian had them. I don't understand why the owner of the gun ever got rid of the Bernard barrels. I do know why it now has Krupp barrels - somebody thought the gun would be the perfect 'cowboy action gun' and cut these beautiful Bernard barrels to 21 5/8 inches.... There's just no explaining this kind of ignorance. But now even the forend is missing. Does anybody know where it is?
The only identification on the barrels, aside from the engraved legend on the top rib, is the four-digit number on the barrel tube right next to the forend loop... Is this the serial number of the gun?

Can anybody share some information on this gun or on F.A. Elliott?

Yeah, I would call Dr. Bob and maybe post on the LACA forum. What a damn shame, Lefevers are such wonderful guns. What grade is it?

Bob does not know who owns the gun. It walked into vegas in 2013 and was photographed for the newsletter, but no one noted what the owners name was.

I wont divulge who i sold the forend to of course. He simply needed it for another gun. Since the barrels were sawed off and ribs separating, i didnt see too much value in keeping the two together. Especially since i did not know the gun was still out there until after i sold the forend off.

Go figure that someone would take a gun that was one of the most expensive gun in the country at the time and cut the barrels off.

Chuck, the brothers were Robert S. (known as Uncle Bob), Dave, Jim (J.A.R), and John. Could be a distant cousin?
