We wish to extend a big Thank You to Harold Pickens for volunteering to set up the PGCA tables with PGCA banner, tablecloths, and gun racks and guns along with display literature and membership sign-up material - A BIG Thank You Harold!

We also wish to thank all of the other volunteers who spent time in the booth as representatives of the PGCA - You know who you are... Thank You All.

Some Raffle Gun tickets were sold and a good number of membership applications were taken by visitors - let's see if any new members result from this... We hope so.

We all had a great time, as usual, shooting and visiting with old friends.

The heavy rains on Wednesday night turned the parking field into a grass and mud gumbo! What a mess! Several cars and trucks (and one Honda Odyssey that we know of) had to be towed out of the quagmire. Harold's Gator did yeoman's work in hauling out some of the stuck vehicles. Once again, Thanks Harold!

It was also very nice to see that all of the dog owners were very responsible in picking up after their dogs and there were lots of dogs of every breed there!

There was unfortunately, one pair of "attendees" (we don't know who these guys are) who thought it was acceptable to throw their garbage in the edge of the woods and to leave a bag of trash in the field where they had parked. I guess they thought Ernie would provide 'curb side trash pick-up'.... Alan McLane made at least one trash run with trash from our central area and collected the bag left by the aforementioned offenders. Thanks Alan!

I didn't stay to see the scores and prizes - somebody else will have to make that report.

It was a great time had by all.
Team Fox beat Team Lefever again aided by cross dressing Parker shooters.
Great to see all those guys I never see except at HHH.
And I won a gun in the door prize raffle. Can't beat that.

George, please tell us about that nice gun you won. Was it a SXS?

It's a little 28 gauge Franchi semiauto. Light as a feather. I'm probably going to give it to my daughter if she wants it.

Darn George, I would have sold you Franchi 48AL in 20 ga with a wonderful invention called the polychoke much cheaper. A real Frank Woolner ultimate grouse gun.

I can't help it that Smitty and I can shoot both makers guns with such aplomb.:)
But just for the record we were wearing the same clothes we wear when shooting Parkers.:bigbye:

Had a great time as always, as much as I like shooting at Drakes/Southern, if I could only attend 1 event next year it would be Hausmann's. I have pictures of hunting with Ernie in the UP back in the late 1980's. Always great to shoot with Edgar , Allan, Frank and Pete. Got to shoot the main event with Steven Hodges and Bud. Good seeing old friends that I have met thru the PGCA, Rich, Daryl, Mike, Eric, Chuck, Larry, Dean, etc--no slight meant if I left you out. Wished I had taken some pictures--specifically of the old gator pulling Chuck's van and Edgars Excursion. I only took the Gator to give my poor foot a break from plantar fasciitis, but will plan on bringing it next year.
Edgar and Allan's rib fest was a hit and well attended--hey Frank, I ate your ribs on the way home, you left them in my cooler. Congrats to all those shooting in the Fox/Lefever Challenge. Hope to make it to"The Rock" in Sept, heard it is very nice and Mike Koneski a great host

That's probably my problem. I'm shooting my guns with shotgun shells and you're using plums.

Margaret and I had a great time. Thanks to Harold for him using the Gator to get me out of the mud! Thanks to Edgar and Allan for the after shoot fixings. Great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. See you next year!

As always, it was great seeing our Parker brethren and many thanks to all who threw some lead at our Bo-Whoop event. Not sure you guys were around for this very special "walk-in" but it was certainly a weekend highlight for us fans of Philly's Finest!

As you know, our SBT event is called the William Letterman Classic in honor of William C. Letterman, acclaimed PA trap shooter who endorsed the Fox SBT. In June of 1923, Willy won the PA State Championship shooting a J-grade Fox single. So what comes waltzing in to the shooting stand but none other than the original stock/fore-arm off of Mr. Letterman's J-grade, found several months ago at a PA flea market. We verified via the factory records that indeed the stock was special ordered with bird's eye maple and a cheek piece. Notice too, the date on the grip cap insert of 1923, the same year he was crowned champion. We feel that might have been a little gift from Philly for backing their "late-to-the-party" trap gun. No, the rest of the gun is still AWOL but still a very cool piece of Fox history nevertheless!!:bowdown:

A fabulous find... in a flea market no less.

What a shame that it was almost lost to a table lamp re-purposing.

Anybody know how to find the results/winners info for the shoot? Just curious and would like to see the scores in the main event

Rich Anderson
06-06-2017, 03:03 PM
The same people won this year as in the past, David Condon shot 78/80 in the main event. The DeFurmonts (? spelling) were right up there as well, one of them ran the 5 stand. I didn't stand a chance and paid little attention. I didn't know you could shoot as a non scoring round. A friend shot the main event as a non scoring round for $60VS $80. That's the way to go for me next year.

Yes. Non scoring will save a few bucks as will "practice" rounds for the Bo Whoop

A nice option for those of us just there to shoot and have fun

Wish I had known as I shot all the courses at full price and didn't make one score sheet as I was only shooting for fun....Well I'll know next year.!

I shot both courses and had no need for anything bigger than a 20ga in fact I probably would have scored better if I left the long barreled tight choked 12 at home. I shoot for the fun of it and I did have a good time.

Agreed Rich

I shot ( or tried to shoot) the 12 bore course with my Super Fox.

Glad it was not for score

Great course. But bring a grouse/woodcock gun, not your passing shooting waterfowl cannon

Frank Cronin

I shot mostly spreader loads and just a handful of regular shells in the 12 gauge all weekend.

It was great to see everyone again. Weather was sunny and comfortable all three days. Couldn't ask for better weather.

Big shout out to Harold with his John Deere "Gator". This thing was a beast towing out vehicles and taxiing everyone plus ammo around the course.

Looking forward to the next shoot. See you all soon.

Let's set up an Addieville shoot for July. Since my Cape house looks like this I will have lots of non-beach time this summer.

One of the best things I saw at Hausmans was four young people out on the course with their dad's, very cool. I heard one of the kids shot the Letterman Cup very well with a borrowed Fox trap gun.

These kids shot very well. Each boy were shooting Ithaca SxS low gun and I witnessed one boy named Sean clean sweep a station.

At least one of the boys was shooting a Browning BSS 20 and from what I understand Morris from RST donated the ammo for the kids.

To me the courses seemed reversed as the smallbore was better suited for a largebore and vice versa. I shot the largebore course with a 20 and did OK but shot the main event with a 12 and 3/4oz loads. Those 6 birds on station 2 coming off the hill just killed me. I broke 5/6 with a 28 the day before and only managed a 1/6 with the 12 the next day. Go figure.

Station 2 killed me too - I've never shot well on dropping birds like that.

I was pretty tickled with myself at the pond station with those two L to R screamers - I broke the first bird, missed the second but smashed all the others including the true pair. But the rest of my shooting doesn't warrant discussion.

The boys and their families are from around the Harrisburg, Pa area. I shot behind their fathers at the Southern. They are Ithaca shooters predominately. Their dads shot Ithacas and one boy had a nice Grade 2 20, and the other had a Ithaca/Lefever A grade in 20 in very good condition. I did see the one boy with a BSS 20 also. I showed them my Ithaca 4E 16.
I shot the main event with my hammer 20--I had a card I did not get to use earlier, so they gave me credit on that and then made up the balance
