does anyone know who can make or have a top lever spring that could be fitted to an old english, birmingham, hammer gun. this is the v-type with inch and a half legs and a round 1/8 inch protrusion at the base that sticks into the top tang.

thanks,
John

Abe Chaber in CT makes springs of the proper tension and fits them to your guns... IF he's still taking work.

Mr. Pulls:
Other choices are:
Replace the spring with one of Brownells top lever replacement springs (if you can avoid buying the full lot and find one that's "right"). Or, depending on where the original spring broke, have it welded back by Micro Precision Welding in Mattawan MI. No guarantee with that repair but a few of mine still work well...

I have purchased a number of these from Galazan. The springs are oversized and you have grind them down and polish them with a Dremel tool. Dixie Gunworks sells a similar spring but the legs are too short so don't bother with them. They are a quality spring. None of mine have broken, yet.
