OK; what is it?

I was looking at range bags the other day and checked the Boyt site. One of the photos on their home page shows a guy sliding a sxs out of a case. The gun has an exposed hinge pin, but it's not a Parker or early Sterlingworth. I've seen some early Stevens guns with an exposed pin; what others are there? So what is it?

Maybe the marketing department of some of these outdoor mechandisers could be a little more creative in their choice of props.

It's probably somebody's favorite gun... might even be a member. I've hunted with Trojans since '61 and enjoyed them a whole lot... especially the 16's and 20's.

Maybe the subliminal message is that you don't need to be a snob to enjoy a double.

OK, but seeing a high condition AHE 28 gauge being pulled out of that case would be more satisfying. Advertising is a wonderful thing. In 1961, when I was 15 years old, I was in the gun department at Abercrombie and Fitch during a photo shoot. The shoot had nothing to do with guns, but naked models couldn't just wander around any part of the store except the seventh floor. It was a very pleasant morning for me and didn't seem to affect the models.

I agree with the AHE 28 being nicer to look at than naked models (these days... like the dog that chases the car - what can he do with it if he catches it?) but like I said, that Trojan is probably somebody's favorite gun.

I have an AHE 28 it's an upgrade but the models probably have had some work done as well. Either way you can get your gun off:rotf: Given a choice I'll take the gun, when your done playing with it just wipe it off and put it away.

Hells bells I'd rather have a nice VHE 28 then the models . I'd even rather have an EH 10 on a #2 frame with 26" original barrels rather then the model/models .

I used to have a lot of respect for Boyt and bought several things from them over the years. But the last time I ordered something I saw that Made in China tag and sent it back. No more....

Boyt Harness has been wonderful to deal with. I bought a case and it was the wrong length, no problem a replacement was on it's way before I could send the wrong one back. I have a couple of VERY old cases that needed repair for zippers and straps. They replaced it all at no charge.

You're different than I am Rich. I worry over buying things from these old school companies like Boyt and LL Bean that used to be Made in USA and have now sold out going straight Made in China. It bothers me, and I just won't hardly do it. I can find stuff on the secondary market that's solid and made here if I'm willing to wait and look hard enough. If I buy new, it's from outfits that still sell some good old American gear. I barely darkened the door of a Cabela's or a Bass Pro in 10 years. It just bugs me, so I avoid places like that.

Oh I hear you Destry but unfortunately we can't buy 100% made in USA any more but hopefully that is changing slowly but surely. It's still refreshing to know that there are companies out there who offer exemplary customer service and Boyt is one of them.

I don't frequent Cabela's either and have never been in a Bass Pro.

Duluth Pack and Frost River both make great gun cases in a similar style to Boyt and they both make them right here in the USA.

I was down at Knutson's the other day and saw a great looking similar case made by Allen that was marked USA. Nice price, but it was a short one, and all my guns are long. I jumped on my phone as soon as I got in the truck to order the same case in the long model. Well apparently Allen is heading towards straight China and sure enough the one I wanted wasn't made in the USA anymore.

But to their credit, Allen does still make some stuff here.

Destry, had not heard of Duluth Pack before.. Looks like some quality gear.

I like Filson and Russell boots. Made in America, at least last I checked, and quality stuff
