Can anyone recommend some good books for general double repair? Cracked stocks, loose lugs, refinishing, etc. Thanks!

Hurry out to your local used book store or funeral home. Amazon doesn't have any and AbeBooks has plenty for $200 to $300 plus shipping. As I recall, it is a compilation of Mac's and David's articles in Shooting Sportsman. The series began when professional gunsmithing was within my means. Now that gunsmithing by a professional is out of my realm, so are the how to books. I could write a book about the good old days of shotgun gunsmithing. At least the craftsmen are better than ever.

you remember correctly Bill-

a lot of good information - but not that much of a how to in my opinion - i sold my copy when the price went nuts and used the cash in a Parker deal and i have all the old SPM back issues anyway

I've had my eye on David's personal copy for years. It's in kinda rough condition and literally stuffed with handwritten notes and such. I would love to read those notes just once.

One option is to contact Cornell Publications and order a set of Double Gun Classics magazine:
