I hope someone here scored the wonderful and cheap 28 gauge double trigger Repro on gunbroker, item #176111085. I would have been "in there" except for some interesting alternatives locally.

That was a deal for sure.

Someone did pick up a nice gun at a great price. Wonder what would have been the winning bid if the gun had a straight stock?

This morning I bought a 28 gauge Repro, DT, English, SF, 26" Mod/IC, NIC.
Can someone recommend a good smith who is well versed in barrel stretching?

LOL. No need to stretch them. You do your part, they'll do theirs. I've killed countless grouse and clay birds with my 26" (.004/.006) barrels.

Do you know offhand the decimal restrictions of the factory Mod/IC chokes?

Bobby, I have one just like yours and I do very well at skeet with those chokes. I've also taken a fair number of grouse with it too but since Kathy bought hers I like the Q1 & Q2 barrels from her gun better for the early season when flushes are generally closer.

Bobby, if I had bought that gun, I wouldn't be worrying about barrel stretching. The stock is probably worth more than you paid for the gun. In today's world, the double triggers and English grip is probably worth about two grand as options on your gun.

I have two 26" 28's factory choked IC/M, one measures .006/.016 and the other .009/.016.

I'm anxious to see the drivers side of the buttstock. Been my experience that the left is usually nicer than the right.

I've heard it said that these guns couldn't be built today for twice what they sold for when first introduced. My only 28 double has been a Win 23 G.Q. and it must weigh at least a pound more than this little beauty. Can't wait to shoot it.

Thanks for all the info.

That was a great deal....Several years ago I got the same deal on gun broker, its exactly the same specs...also in the summertime when sales lag. I still have it!...and several other repro's DT guns as well. I have found nothing wrong or defective about these guns. Been shooting a 20ga with 28" barrels for several years at sporting clays....I did have the chokes opened a tad, but have not seen any huge improvement over the original tight chokes. At our club targets are long and short so you need chokes to fit the presintations. One gun with fixed chokes can't do it all! The color on the receiver is mostly gone now and the engraving realy stands out. Repro's look good used! Enjoy your new gun....Im sure there will be additions to it...(-: Im watching for any B grade guns with DT that is at a fair price and a sporting clays or steel shot spl. 12 with DT and 14 3/8" lenth of pull. My parker fund is depleted and negitive after the 410/28 set of last, it may be a while...)-: I would love to have that A-1 spl. 20ga. DT listed on gun broker! thanks all Kenny Graft SXS ohio
