Years ago I bought this antique oak case, long enough to accommodate the 34" barrels of my P grade hammer gun. I modified the case so the brass 3 1/4" shells would fit as shown in the attached photos. I wanted to have an antique case to hold my antique Parker. I bought baize from England which is the correct color to re-line cases from the 1800's. Included in the case are reloading and gun cleaning tools. The two primer cans hold all the primers, wads, cards, patches, etc., necessary to reload and clean the gun. The only items missing from the case are the powder and shot. The case as depicted weighs 38 pounds.

Excellent job on that case. Was it originally made as a gun case?

This was a gun case which I added pieces to the lid to deepen it so the 3" wide 8 gauge frame and the 3 1/4" shells would fit. Everything you see on the outside including the finish is original except the handles and the added pieces to the lid. The finish of the pieces was then matched to the case. I found it difficult to find an original case which was long enough to accommodate the 34" barrels so when I found this one on Ebay, I purchased it.

That case is awesome! It is very hard to find a case for 8 gauge guns especially with 36" barrels. Now if I could just find one for my 4 Gauge with 40" barrels.

VERY nice work indeed, Wayne! About a year ago I did some repairs to the case for the Grade 5 8ga. hammer gun recently auctioned off by Julia's. It is always a challenge to try to match the interior felt, most often faded over the years, with newer repairs.
BTW - National Billiard Company in KY and the Henry T. Mali Co. Inc. in New York both carry this proper period baize (billiard cloth) color in several weights. The color is listed as 'Surf' and the stock number is 2124 on both their lists.
