One of those guys you've got to admire.

Just started radiation for pancreatic cancer last week, still working on guns and shooting almost every day.

This is the 14 gauge Parker DH he recently picked up.

I managed to trade for him some 14 gauge brass shells that had been made up out of Greener ones. They were too tight for the gun, but he managed to get a few turned down so they'll go in the chambers.

Loaded up some ounce loads with black powder, and had her out for a couple clays this afternoon.

Was looking at this post again, seems just yesterday, not quite two years ago....

My dear friend David Long, I went to his memorial service on Friday.

I was sitting with him when he passed on Wednesday, he fought the good fight but finally just had to lay the cares of this world down.

Godspeed my friend, the gun shows won't be the same now or ever again without you.

But he has a health perfect body now and who knows maybe a AAHE in every gauge to shoot any day he wants.
You are a true friend to see him off to Glory.

Scott

I knew Dave. And I also knew him to be a grand fellow. His passing diminishes us all.

The gun is already sold. I don't need stuff like that, way too specialized.

His wife insisted I take one of his pistols that I'd always admired, since I wouldn't take any money for helping her sell things. I might buy a Ballard .22 target rifle out of the estate when the dust settles but that will be all I need.

I saw a back action 14 gauge for sale recently, but I have enough trouble getting shells for my 8 gauge. Don't need two odd grades.

I am like you, though, when a friend dies, I really don't want any of their stuff. Just the memories
