This is hardly a Parker subject, but in case you have some time before the next dove season, you might want to drive to the path of a long total solar eclipse next August 21 at about 11:00 AM.

I witnessed one from the top deck of a ship off Finland many years ago and it was very interesting to watch the shadow of the moon race towards us at about 1000 miles per hour. Many people travel many miles to view totals and we have one right in our back yard in less than a year. Here is the path:

I have a friend who is a serious amateur astronomer and he reported that most rooms near airports in the west end of path have been booked.

The phrase "once in a lifetime" is, perhaps, used too often-but I believe that this event qualifies.
