Did 12 gauge Trojans come in 26" barrel lengths? There is a project gun for sale and the barrels are 26".

As originally introduced, the Trojan was offered with 28- or 30-inch barrels in 12-gauge and 28-inch barrels in 16- and 20-gauge. The option of 26-inch barrels in all three gauges was added after WW-I.

Sure did, I have a 12 ga with factory 26 in. choked .008 and .026. I picked up another set of barrels that are 28 in choked .035 in both barrels. This makes a great 2 barrel set for a work horse of a gun. :)

What is the serial number?

If it's in the book, you would know for sure that they are original

26" would be a "special order" for a 12g trojan. As they were cataloged as being available in 28" and 30". Not standard, or common, but they are out there. And just like '32 fords, there are also more out there then were actually made.

The Parker Story states on page 245 "Then, catalogues starting in 1926 offered 26-inch barrels in each of the three gauges." That said, I have a January 2, 1923, Parker Bros. catalogue that offers the 26-inch barrels for the Trojan --

my is serial number is 222234 but not in the book. I checked how long the chokes were, left was 4 1/2 with.026 and right 3 1/2 inches long with .008. Barrels are wright for factory 26 in. scott

That serial number is about 1927 so is long after WW1 as Researcher said 26" barrels were introducer after WW1.

Remember also , although " The Book " is quite helpful , it is not written in stone !:)

So I picked up this Trojan 12 gauge. Barrels are 26". Serial # 201909 according to the book has 30" barrels. Please look at these pics and let me know what you think. A dime will fit in the right barrel and will not fit in the left.

Dimes are useful if you have nothing else and in a pinch. Dimes are about .705 to .710, so if it goes you can have anything from .024 to .000 with a standard .729 bore. If it does not go with a standard bore you have anywhere from .025 on up choke. But cut from 30" to 26" the choke constriction will not be very long so don't expect it to throw the pattern of an uncut gun with the same constriction and full length chokes.

Those barrels are uncut. Matting terminates. And a dime suggests they have choke.

Is there a "2" on the forend lug? Curious.

Yes there is 2 on the lug

That would indicate that the 26" set was a second barrel set. Either as part of the original order or added later on by the factory on a service return.
I have seen this before on another set of 26" trojan barrels where the number in the book inducated another barrel length.

If the book did not indicate the option for additional barrels, it would have likely been a return scenario.

For the most part Trojan guns were not made to special order, but if a customer wanted to pay and such, why not.

Brian, I looked at the forearm and it is stamped with a 1. I asked the guy I purchased the gun from if he knew where the other barrels were and he doesn't. All this gun needs is to be cleaned up and a pad installed as the lop is 13". I don't think the stock has been cut as it is curved slightly and not flat. The screws are excellent. I appreciate everyone's feedback, and I really enjoy learning about these awesome firearms!
