View Full Version : adjusting POI right barrel

The right barrel on a 12 ga SxS I own shoots around 18 inches left of point of aim at 25 yards. The left barrel is fine. I know a metal guy who says he can drift the muzzle/choke manually with a reamer to correct.

Has anyone here had that done? Was it successful?

Thanks -

Yes, I had a Parker Trojan that must have been stitched together on a Monday and David Yale put a little "English" on his reamer and moved it over to the point the patterns overlapped. I believe he shot the patterns at 16 yards to regulate (not sure). Whoever you choose to do the work be sure they have the ability to constantly pattern the gun while moving POI. David Yale now lives in Pennsylvania, 717-382-4095. Also suggest Dean Harris at Skeet's in Oklahoma, 918-456-4749. He specializes in barrel work. Not a cheap process due to the time at the pattern board.

I had it done to a 20g Webley & Scott. The smith moved the pattern 7" towards center by adjusting the angle of the choke. I don't remember the guys name, but he was from the Midwest.

Briley advertises they can do it. However, I have no first hand experience.

I had it done by Briley on a 28ga, They actually installed a screw in choke to correct the problem. Worked out great.

Mr Farrell,

I too recommend Briley. They did it for me on a 32" 20 hammergun. Both barrels were way off. They did an excellent job.
They can recut the angle of the choke and also can install an eccentric choke if the job is so severe than only one wont work.

I suggest you contact Steve Powers or the shop forman MIke. Talk to either. Also I suggest you send in a pattern with measurements to help them get it right where you want it.

They did the job for me in two weeks turn around time.
