Cut SxS barrels or not ?

I have always had the assumption that SxS barrels that did not touch or at least are very close to each other, have been cut. Picture #9, in the following listing, clearly shows the barrels are not even close to touching. The listing states 26" barrels which is verified by the Parker identification & serialization book.

I don't see how one could judge the condition of the muzzle; keels and spacing, evidence of file cuts, etc., given the aspect of this photo. An end-on closeup is needed to properly assess these things. One thing the description is way off on is the estimated DOM - a 170XXX SN would put this gun in the mid- to late 1915-16 era, not 1928. Given that anomaly, I would look carefully for more inconsistencies in either the gun or description or both. The "almost impossible to come by" is pure seller's hype; TPS will give you the number of guns in this configuration that records are available for. They are out there.....

Yes, well, but I'm not interested in buying this Parker at all, I was just cruising the net and this muzzle just caught my attention.

Bill, That gun has been on G'broker for over a year. The seller never answers any questions, and it will likely be there another year.

As Kevin points out, the picture of the muzzle isn't really good enough to determine if the barrels actually touch at the muzzle. It's risky to assume that 'the book' is correct, and these barrels are the original 26 " barrels to the gun. Maybe they are original, and maybe they are not, and are cut down from something else.

The question I asked the seller, more than a year ago, is why the stock appears to be a grade 2 stock, i.e. no drop points, yet has an Oval shield, and skeleton butt plate. It also doesn't look like an 0 frame stock, but that could be camera angle.
The gun might be rights as rain, or a bitsa gun. If the seller is too lazy to answer questions, it would be a risky purchase.

I just took a look at that ad and I don't see a single picture in the entire string that could possibly be used to determine if the gun's barrels had been cut.
There is however, one picture that shows the top of the rib at the muzzles that has the blank space at the end of the rib.... but again, that proves nothing.

Forend looks considerably darker than the butt. I'd guess a restock. Can't imagine why it wouldn't have drop points - who would intentionally do that to a grade 3??. The muzzle shot is inconclusive but it does look like there's too much space between the bores for the bbls to be touching. I have a 26" GHE damascus 12ga that letters at 26", has bbls that don't touch, v short chokes and looks to have clearly been cut, seemingly by the factory.

The space on the end of the barrel past the bead does not look right to me.
Maybe it's the picture but it looks to be cut in.

There are private sellers who have an unrealistic idea what their gun is worth, so they consign it to someone who just throws it up on GB, rather than work out a reasonable expectation with the seller. The GB seller's name sort of suggests he's not principally a gun dealer. "Promotions"?

There are plenty of sellers online who seem to be running an online museum rather than be serious about selling guns. Some have been on for years at the same unreasonable prices
