So I had posted in the wanted section a few weeks ago about a 28 gauge VHE
Some what interesting story
Kittery Trading post calls several weeks ago and had taken in a 28 VHE
Now I have been looking for a few years for a 28
I go down there and bought it and did so by trading 18 guns toward it
When I put the post on here about a question Mr Bob Kimbel (from on here) sends me a message about one he had for sale
So long story short I end up with both
Thanks to Bob Kimble for selling me his 28 and being very honest about the condition
Thanks to John Dunkle and the Kittery trading post for their help
It is wonderful that John and crew at the Post took the time to let me know as they know I have been looking
I know the Post had several that were back up buyers...
So last night my wife sees the two 28s
Up till that time she thought one now she sees two lol....

Mark,
When I was first married, I only had a few guns, my wife knew what I had (it seems like) by make, model and serial number. Over the years, she got tired of hearing about them and tries not to pay that much attention to them. So now when my wife sees what appears more guns in my gun room I just tell her that they must have multiplied overnight.

Mine is a shooter. It was reconfigured to a skeet gun at some point. It is a good shooter, though, and should be great for quail hunting. It picks up long sporting clays shots nicely too.

Mark and Mills, we need the full story of all three of your guns. Wow, Mills' gun has a Miller trigger and beavertail. Details, please.

Bill
I would be glad to tell about the two guns
Not sure what you want to know
The One from the Kittery Trading post does have some nice history
AF says it was owned by a famous sports writer or his son by the same name
I did order a letter from them as well as here
Nothing has showed yet
The other one I just got yesterday

Mark: How great is it that you have been in the hunt for a number of years and your 28ga dream guns came through times 2!! Sounds like a PP story to me. If you would like me to post your pictures e-mail them to clarter@rochester.rr.com

The 28's are my favorite Parkers. A good friend and fellow SC collector has a very high condition all original 28 ga in EVERY grade from VHE up to AAHE! I will attempt to get a picture of the group and maybe a PP story. The AAHE is actually a two gage, 20 & 28 ga set! It is nice to have friends like him.:)

Nice guns Mark. It would be neat to gather a bunch of 28's for a group photo, maybe even a 28 event next spring at Drake.
I agree David. I truly love my 20's but there is something very special about the 28ga. I can see that when I get as old as you I 'll be shooting those 28's 90% of the time.:):)

Very nice ! I just got home from an auction that had a VH 28 gauge . Was on an "0" frame Identification book says it was supposed to be 28" and it was 26" the box at the end of the rib looked pretty cobbled . Barrel was reblued , action re color cased , wood redone Nd not well plus a Pachmeyer White Line pad . The gun was made before 1908 . And it brought $4000 which "I thought" was stout for what I saw .

Thanks all
Wasn't sure I should tell the story
But being a 28 thought it was kind of cool
I told my wife I didn't have enough money now to buy her a Mothers Day gift or even a card....

I have a friend that buys a lot of guns and he isn't what I'd call focused in any direction . Sometimes his wife gets a little peeved with him for spending the amount he does .
I told her one day she should be glad he doesn't gamble , drink excessively or is a womanizer . And on top of that atleast he can always sell what he buys and get some of not all or more of his money back .

Fortunately not. I don't need to find one until I have the money. Until then, I am enjoying the 28

I would love to see a Parker 28ga "round up display" at one of the events and maybe a 5 stand competition like what was organized for 16ga guns at this year's Southern. Mark your new 28's are very nice congratulations----enjoy them in the field.

I think Craig's idea of a 28 ga display is a great one. Lets do it at This years Fall Southern? There is a good chance I can get my friend to display his VHE-AAHE 28a collection.

David our waterfowl season opens the same weekend so it is a very bad time of year for anyone that hunts birds in the northern tier of states, a long way of saying I will not be attending.

Maybe the Fall Southern should be moved to the winter Southern say in Jan or Feb that way us northerners will be itching for some warmer weather. I LOVE leaving Michigan the end of January for our Quail hunt is south Georgia.

Lets do it!!! I have talked to the gentleman with the vertical collection and he will display some, maybe all, of his 28 ga guns. I will talk to Rick Hemmingway and set up a Parker Bros 28 ga shoot. I believe "DOC" is going to also have a 16 ga P-S shoot off this Fall. This is looking like the best ever, especially if Team Parker kicks ass again!

Your just jealous that you don't have Grouse to hunt in the fall and have to resort to shooting those defenseless clay birds:rotf:
David Dwyer

Rich
You are correct! I would much rather walk through the woods all day to shoot 2-3 grouse rather than go on a dove shoot for a hour with a few friends, shoot 10-15 dove and sit around afterwards and share a cold one.:crying: That is from Labor Day until the end of Jan.:bigbye:

Grouse hunting is something I want to do. My new 28 should be a good gun for it, too.

OK, its ON! There will be a Parker 28 ga shoot on Sat 10/22 at the Fall Souther SXS. It will be 50 targets on the small ga course and a trophy will be presented that evening at the awards banquette . We will have a fantastic display with a couple of 28 ga for sale.
The venders this year will include Steve Barnett which will add to the guns for sale.
See y'all there!!

The "fabulous" Elsie team has lost EVERY year in the P-S fall challenge!!! :) My understanding there is going to be an additional P-S "grudge match" this year in the fall as it was this past spring. I think it will be a 20 ga event.

David, I wish I could be there with you, (of course I might not have been shooting a Parker, maybe something from over the pond :) ) But I have to have surgery on the ankle in July and I may be up and moving in late Sept or Oct and if and when the Dr gives the ok it will be in the grouse woods.... I would love to see his collection. Please tell him I hope he enjoys the 16 ga skeet gun as much as I did. Eric

I think this Parker 28ga collection is one of the top two in existence. It is V thru AA with the AA being the only existing original 28 ga /20ga two barrel set These are all very high condition Parkers. The only missing gun is a PHE, so if you know of a nice one..... Eric Klein is a good friend and a great guy. It is worth a trip to Backwoods this fall just to see this collection. He is also a darn good shot and will be shooting a DHE 28ga that was once in my collection. This is also a great opportunity to meet one of the top American Double Gun collectors in the world.
