it is a 10 ga a grade with ejectors..i have a question for someone..the left barrel has quit fireing..it will recock itself after snaping and the ejector kicks out good...the fireing pin seems to be long enough...sometimes the left hammer want drop till you have opened up the gun slightly...i m going to take the gun apart any suggestions..just looking at it it looks like it may be similer to a parker in the break down mode..any suggestions welcome....charlie

in pulling the trigger the right barrel snaps a lot harder than the left barrel which is the problem barrel..the hammer spring may be broke or is mighty weak...on tearing the gun down all i have done so far is take the forearm and barrels off i can see no damage there the trouble must be inside the gun.. this will be my first remington to take apart....charlie

The 1894 uses large flat leaf springs for the hammers. I would not think the mechanism to continue working with a broken spring. Unless maybe just the end of it is broken or something causing light pressure.

The pins are part of the hammers, much like Parkers are.

Is the firing pin contacting the primer at all?

brian the firing pin is contacting the primer but it is just barely leaveing a mark on the primer..i have it broke down with the stock off but have not went farther...have seen nothing broken yet...charlie

I would think either the pin is damaged, hammer is damaged or mainspring is damaged. Not much else in the equation that could be causing the issue. The mainspring is completely obscured by the hammer and cannot be accessed without removing it.

brian i have the hammer out now on the bad side left side it seems ok to me the hammer spring seems to be as stout as the other side...the firing pin by eye seems to be as long as the other one...i was gona take the fireing pin out but the little screw that keeps the fireing pin holder is really stuck donot believe its ever been out...here is what i have found the fireing pin holder is not screwed down as deep as the other fireing pin holder by at least by 2 threads...but the fireing pins in the fired poisition seem to be even... what is the best rust loosner that you use...i ve got wd 40 on it at the moment....i know there is better stuff but its all i have got at the momenti f i can get the small screw out and be able to ajust the fireing pin a little farther down maybe it will solve my problem but if the fireing pin holder is bottomed out already then i may have to gey a longer fireing pin...what do you think....charlie

the remington 1894 is a little easier to work on than the parker..for instance dont have to pull the trigger sears to get the stock off...but both guns come apart much alike...brian is a good mane to solve problems i thank him for his expertise in his knowledge of old doublesand his willness to help with a problem...i aint got no cash to have other people work on my old side by sides so you boys on the net here are my salvation with yall s knowledge... waiting on the spring from brian will let ya ll know how this turns out for the good i hope...charlie...
