Charlie Herzog. When he called me yesterday and said he was Charles Herzog, I thought maybe he was in trouble and needed a lawyer.
Foolish me.
He just wanted to make sure I was bringing the only case suitable to display the Famous but Unreal Tsar's Parker.
In my opinion, that gun is right there in the top ten of Parker's that you must see in your lifetime.
And to be able to Honor CHARLES will be a memorable event in itself.
Charles is a great PGCA member and we are so fortunate to have him.

Mr Herzog has unselfishly given of his time to help build the PGCA into what it is today! There are several key people Charlie has brought into this organization over the years. That aside, he has amassed what I think is a spectacular collection of rare Parker guns, and some of these will be for our viewing pleasure at the HOF banquet. There was the real "Czar's" gun ordered by a Colonel in the Czar's guard. Speculation was that it was ordered for the Czar. It was never delivered and was not heard from till recently. It was returned and bought by a guy in NY. It resurfaced a few years ago and was sold by Julia's. Galazan upgraded a gun that was represented as the Czar's gun. Truly a work of art but not the real thing. A lawsuit was filed. I think I have my fact pretty accurate. Read the Parker Story.

Mr. Charlie is not only a class guy, as an older member I saw the Parker Gun Collectors organization grow from a fledgling group of collectors, the first of it's kind, to grow to a organization that has been used as a format for other clubs.
The people that have devoted the time and energy to make this grow need not be named, they know who they are. However Mr. Charlie was instrumental in the progress of PGCA.
We have lost many of my friends that helped make this organization grow, but as long as we have the principal leadership that has evolved as members retire from office, to new officers, the Parker mystique will endure, and PGCA will continue.
This will be a beacon to show the way a group of collectors can hold an idea together by lovers of any collectible, if the leadership is there, and the passion is more important than self. My tribute to a great fellow and a passionate Parker collector.

All true Jim. But as time marches on we need younger guys and gals to get more deeply involved. The core officers and directors are aging... We need people to step up and do some of the "heavy lifting" and get involved in the operation of this organization or it will begin to dwindle by attrition.

Mills Morrison's jumping right into the thick of it is a prime example of what we like to see.

Thanks guys. It went pretty well and none of my worst fears were realized. I could not have done it without other PGCA members stepping in from time to time. I will not give names at the risk of leaving someone out, but you know who you are.

We are already looking to next year and how we can kick this event up another notch. It seemed the one qualifying station and practice station on the other field went well. The 8 gauge event was a huge success and we might do a 410 event or something similar next year.

It was a privilege to get to see Parker guns of this quality and high condition. Thanks goes out to the Board of the Parker Gun Foundation for all their efforts to have a first class event. Charlie Herzog is a first class guy and for him to take the time to pack up and drive all guns cross country just so we could see them was outstanding.

Well , another year for the Foundation with an other display of some outstanding Parkers. Starting off two years ago, with Charlie Green and his extremely high condition and varied collection, then came Gary Carmichael with high grade hammer guns , also in high condition and varied configuration---and now comes Charlie Herzog with unusual guns of every grade with ,as the others, high condition. What is in the future of the Foundation, who knows ?

Art Wheaton ,John Davis, and I have accomplished what we started out to do, which is to take the high road and share with those that wanted a nice meal, enjoy each others company, and see some outstanding collections. There are those that are " hiding" their unusual gems---lets get them on the forefront and share them with your fellow Parker collectors.

The PGCA Board is also looking for volunteers to replace Art, John , & myself. It is not hard to do, I will be more than happy assist with my help to offer suggestions to organize the evening.

I have enjoyed meeting new faces, seeing & talking with others that have the same passion in America's finest shotgun----THE OLD RELIABLE PARKER .

I have been blessed and my life is richer by knowing and being friends with fine people through the PGCA, among them Charlie Green, Gary Carmichael and Charlie Herzog who have shared their significant and museum quality collections with members.

I have acquired boats, sporting memorabilia, books, artisan turned burl bowls, wolf pelts and many fine and wonderous things through PGCA friends. Most importantly are the friendships themselves with people in distant places and who lead different lives whom I never would have met but for our organization.
