I just got this email re: the Spring Southern.

A new just-for-fun flurry event is being offered Friday, April 22, in the Dove Field following the Challenge Cup qualifiers.
And don't forget the Classic Slide Action event, new last year. It will be held Thursday, April 21, 2016, from noon to 3 p.m. It will be 60 targets over 10 stations. The event has been added to the registration form and a trophy will be awarded the champion.
See the latest list of exhibitors by clicking here. Remember some people come just to browse the exhibition tents. You would need to take a US and European tour to visit all of the vendors who will be under three tents in April at Deep River.

Sorry it wont show the entire message. But it states they just added a flurry event on Friday the 22nd at the Dove Field to be shot for fun only (no trophy) after the qualifying rounds are over.
Maybe someone more tech savvy can post the entire email.
Thanks,
John

I just have to wonder if we aren't stuffing too many events in to too little time?

I don't remember having any time left over after the qualifying event was finished. Someone always wanted to shoot one last round to try and qualify after seeing the leader board, so is there a cutoff time for qualifying? If so what is the time?

I don't know if there is a set time that the qualifying ends. Maybe Mills can answer that ?.
The idea of a flurry is being carried over from the Fall Southern. It was big success there and generated a lot of interest.
Rick Hemingway is putting it on. I believe he intends for us to shoot after the qualifying has ended on Friday. Just another opportunity to shoot. As posted in the email it is for fun and not trophy or an event that you have to sign up for.
Should be a lot of fun and I am thankful for all of the opportunities being offered to us this year.

The last qualifying round will be around noon. We are opening qualifying rounds early this year and there will be more slots on Friday.

I think Eric was asking about the end time for qualifying on Friday.
Mills can you answer that? And from your previous response I take it qualifying ends at noon on Saturday. Can you clarify for us? Thanks.

Yes, qualifying ends about noon. Thanks

Hope this is a little more helpful.
We are changing things around this year and there are actually less slots on Saturday, but more on Friday. Hopefully, this will work better.
So that everyone who wishes to gets to shoot, I suggest that if you are here on Friday, that you go ahead and shoot your qualifying round, so that people who arrive on Saturday get to shoot as well.

Mills,
Will the practice field be unavailable for warm-ups for those scheduled to shoot their qualifying round after 11:00am on Saturday??

From Rick:
I will be open at 1pm on Wednesday April 20th and will operate til 6pm.
Practice will be open daily 8am til 6pm or shooters get enough.
I will offer a flush and flurry on Friday as a fun event only starting at whatever time the last qualifying round finishes on Friday. This will be offered on the practice field but due to potentially being a distraction to qualifiers we won't offer it until last qualifying round is completed.
(I am checking on when we will end on Saturday)

Mills,
Will the practice field be unavailable for warm-ups for those scheduled to shoot their qualifying round after 11:00am on Saturday??
Mills,
Thanks for the update on the flurry event but the question was based on available practice time on Saturday for those shooters trying to qualify in the afternoon. Your schedule indicates those slots (11:00am-2:40pm) will be used for the eight gauge event and I assume that will be held on the practice field. I plan to shoot Friday morning but hope that all our members that wish to get a chance to practice and qualify. Thank you for all your work in trying to make this great event even better.

Mills, I plan on shooting Friday too. 1 question though, when do we shoot the hammer gun qualifier?
Mills Morrison
03-21-2016, 09:08 PM
The hammer gun event is Sunday.
Mike Koneski

I understand that, but when do we qualify for the hammer gun? Same time as when we qualify on the Hammerless?

As I remember, there is no qualifying, you shoot and they take the 10 highest scores for each team and which ever team has the highest total is the winner. This is on Sunday.

Thanks Chuck. I didn't remember whether we qualified or not.

That is right. I think Rick might be busy with something else. The last practice round would be the one before 11:00 on Saturday. The 8 gauge event is taking place on the practice field.
Keep in mind the practice field is open on Wednesday and will run Thursday and Friday. If you are able to arrive early, please go ahead and shoot your practice and qualifying round, so that those who arrive Saturday will get a turn.
