While at the gun club yesterday, this question arose. If I were to have the chambers lengthen from 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 ( this ain't going to happen )what effect if any would that have on the guns pattern? Steel barrels, 16 GH choked Cly./ full.

Agree with Bruce. IMO you have the perfect choke combination.

Daniel, in what year was your Parker made?
The original hang tag may have stated it was made to shoot 2 3/4" shells.

Thanks. That is what most said. Purchased the gun for Prairie grouse. 1 frame at 6 1/2 lb. should be a fun to carry all day. Last week, I Tried it on pheasants tower shoot using the full barrel first. then on a walk up after. It worked well !

How to measure or see if your Parker chamber is lengthened?. Made in the years chambers were 2-1/2

Or 2 9/16", or 2 5/8", are in the mix as well. Use a bore and chamber mic to know for certain what you have.

Dean Thanks ! I had wondered about the chambers and had the idea that 2 3/4 came in about the time the GH was made. So after your post,I when and borrowed a 16 ga. 2 3/4 shell. It dropped right in and the gun closed perfectly.

Dan - Remember that stated shell length (ie 2 3/4") is the length of a fired shell, not an unfired shell. A "2 3/4 inch" shell actually is about 2 1/2 before firing

Daniel, that is not an acceptable method of measuring chamber depth. A precision bore and chamber mic is the very best way. Short of that you can use something like Galazan's brass multi-gauge chamber depth gage.
