Here we go ladies and gents!! It's the middle of February, but it's never too early to get the info out. Save the dates for the 2016 Northern SxS Challenge and Expo!! There will be plenty of exciting AHFCA and PGCA events going on. This is going to be a great 4 days of shotgun fun!! More info to follow.
Maybe that "Parker Gun Bus" will fill up and make the trip to NE PA?
We thank our friends at Shooting Sportsman for the great "Save the Date" ad they created.

Mike; I must have missed this - who is Don Jacobs and what was the double gun segment?
Mike Koneski
03-15-2016, 03:41 PM
That was WNEP 16 who did a segment for Pennsylvania Outdoor Life at the shoot. We have it posted on our website and it can be found in "POL" archives on their website. It was a 10-15 minute segment from their 1/2 hour weekly outdoors TV show which airs on a Sunday evening. They were here filming and doing interviews on Friday of the 4 day event.

Nope no deal. If you have/had ever shot a pigeon ring you'd understand. Ernie saw one at the U.P. shoot and has tried (and failed I guess as it hasn't ever worked) to duplicate one for his shoot. Come shoot at Medford, WI over fathers day weekend and experience one. You'd be impressed.

John Dallas
04-14-2016, 04:11 PM
Years ago, Orvis sold a Ritz Cracker thrower. I reverse engineered the thing, and tried out my copy. Thrower worked well, but we found that very often the cracker was hit (sometimes 2-3 pellet holes in the cracker), but they didn't break. I suppose we could have salvaged the unbroken ones and used them for hors d'oeurves, but....

Dean- Fox Team has been kicking our butts so long that we are lucky to have hats made that even mention Parker. Although I don't understand how those Fox shooters are able to convince their probation officers to let them shoot guns. They must have good lawyers.

Can't help ya there Dave.....
But there are others who can. We just need them to show up in good form and high spirit! And with plenty of ammo... and lots of practice under their belts.
Winning doesn't just happen - it takes determination and LOTS of experience at the practice field. There's no way we can beat those Foxy Ladies without practice, practice, practice.
Only then can the Masculine Men of Meriden prevail over the Foxy Fillies of Philly.

I wanted to clarify 1 item. The Manufacturer's Cup Challenge entry. You must declare what manufacturer you are competing for. We need to know at the registration desk to enter you into the scoring syatem. There is no extra charge to qualify for the 5 man teams. If you are one of the top 5 shooters for a manufacturer, you will be in the shoot-off finals and the charge for that will be $25. Thank You.

So my shooting gang did the main course at Rock Mtn this morning. There were nine of us and we broke into squads of 4 and 5. It was fun and casual shooting for eight of my friends but I had my CE Fox “Matilda” out for the first time since Hausmann’s in June and was doing a warm-up for the Northern S x S and the Fox-Parker Challenge. She’s an Ansley era gun shipped in 1909, and her #2 set of barrels are 30-inchers with both choked “Full” at 36 points each. Long ago she'd been in the hands of a distinguished Fox shooter and nowadays there seems to be some magic in this gun.
Just to show what can be done when shooting against modern/trendy competition sporting clays guns. Here’s our scorecard with the old Fox Matilda at 88/100 and a tricked-out Benelli and Beretta, and a Perazzi at: 75, 84 and 80 respectively. FOX RULES!
I sure hope other guys and gals are out doing some practice. Only 4 weeks to the Northern S x S.

Gentlemen & Ladies, do we have thoughts on a hotel for this year. Do not recall which one we were at last year, but was pretty good and a decent restaurant next door. Vin Battaglia will once again join me with a few of his Parkers. I have let Rock Mountain know we are coming. So, appreciate any thoughts on a hotel, and we look forward to seeing you at the Northern. Perhaps Jeff can beat me again with my own gun. ;-)

If you stayed at the hotel next to a restaurant, that would be the Hampton Inn (PGCA is staying there) and the restaurant next door is Remington's. Excellent food and the owner/chef is a member here. Both hotels in Tunkhannock are 20 minutes (tops) from us.

Greg,
I was hoping you had forgotten that, so I could borrow it again!

Everyone who buys tickets at the Northern SxS will be entered into a bonus drawing for an Orvis shell bag that will be given to a lucky winner on Sunday 9/25!! Also, anyone who joins or renews their RGS/AWS membership at the Northern SxS will be entered into a drawing for an Orvis fly rod that will be given away on Sunday, 9/25 too!! There will be a "South Dakota Flush" event set up on the 5-Stand/Games area just for fun. You can run 1 to 6 shooters at a time. No scoring, no trophies, just fun!! If you want to try a gun before you buy it, you can try it there, without shooting a Flush. If you don't get enough shotgun fun it's your own fault!!

Mike,
You have almost too many events to remember. I think I need to do some more reloading before heading west. Do to work obligations Deb and I can't be there until Friday morning but we will set up a PGCA table so if any of our members would like to display some guns or any other Parker items please bring the to the table. The long range weather forecast looks really good so this should be a great weekend of shooting and fun.

All that are attending, enjoy the day today. I will be coming into town this evening and will be set up at the shoot tomorrow and Saturday. The weather looks like it will be good! See you all there. :bigbye:

All the results can be found on our Rock Mountain site and FB page. Pics are also on the FB page. Thanks to everyone who came out and shot the events!! We drew over 100 individual shooters, had a bunch of re-entries and some non-shooters getting an eyeful of shotgun fun!! Congrats to all the winners of the awards and drawing/raffles. We'll be tweaking a few things for next year and will announce the dates after our post-shoot meeting this week. Stay tuned!!

I'd like to thank you Mike, Sam and your crew for a great time. You all know how to set a course to make it fun but REALLY challenging. The five stand, not so much. Seriously, thanks.
