Guys and gals,
The Spring Southern is quickly approaching. I hope that all who can make it get the opportunity this year.
The weather our way has been fair over the past week and despite snow on the ground shooting has been taking place.
I can tell you the Smith boys have been out practicing and getting ready for the Challenge.
Team Parker NEEDS us to be on our game this year and bring home a win in both Challenge events this spring. The team does not exist or function without our members signing up and participating.
So if you are willing and up to the challenge I encourage all to get ready and give the Smith boys a solid run for their money.
Hope to see you all in North Carolina in April.
Go TEAM PARKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those Smith boys need a good lesson from Americas finest shotgun and finest shotgun shooters. I will again attempt to qualify and pray enough birds fly into my patterns enough times to win a place on this prestigious team. So far this strategy hasn't worked :-(

I am hoping two local friends of mine will be able to join us this year. Brothers Duke and Rusty Durham.
They are both shooting family parkers.
Great guys both.
Lets get a lot of folks signed up.
Safety in numbers.

We are altering the Parker Smith Challenge a little this year. There will be two courses, as in years past, but one will be a 25 target practice range and the other will be the 50 bird qualifying round. This change was in response to requests for a practice range. More details will follow. To make it work, we are starting a little bit earlier Friday. Stay tuned for more info.

I am trying to get my son Henry to drive up from Clemson and shoot for us. He is way better than his father.
When does he need to be there?

Are Parker repros allowed?
John Truitt
02-01-2016, 06:25 PM
Mr P,
I do not think repros are allowed for the Challenge event. They are for all other events. Please double check me in the rules from years past. But I believe they are not.
He needs to be there as soon as he can!!! It would be great to have him come shoot for us. In years past they cut qualifying off at around 11:30 or noon time on Saturday.
Hope he can make it.

Dr. T and Mills-where would we find the rules?
John Truitt

I searched under Carl Brandts name and they came up under:
spring southern side by side event rules
they were dated from 2015.
Hope this helps.
This issue involving repros comes up every year. Other more experienced and knowledgeable parkers guys have explained it. but in short (don't hold me to details) it has to do with the Smith guys not having an equivalent gun or something along that line so they requested (during the original formation of the Challenge event and establishment of the rules) to exclude Parker repros from the Challenge.
I know this can be searched in past discussions as well.
Again I hope this helps.
I do not want this thread to become an argument about this. We can do that on another thread. Also I apologize now if I got any of my information incorrect and gave false information.
Again lets keep this about team Parker and kicking some Smith butt.
Mr P. I hope your son can make it and enjoy himself. All my best,
John

Dr. T
This is terrible news. Now I will have to loan him a vintage Parker to shoot. And I will probably never get it back.
You will have to loan him a hammer gun to shoot. He only has a 28 and 10 gauge hammer guns

He will appreciate it, I am sure. We need to get more young shooters for the PGCA.

John, you are correct in your answer about why we can't use repo's.

No Parker repros. Biggest change this year is one 50 bird qualifying round instead of two rounds of 30 birds each. Actual rules remain the same.

Mills,
There is some talk on the Smith site about a potential 8 bore event.
Sounds really interesting to me. Can you share any news/ info on this?
