wrong barrels

I have a BH Parker with VH barrels. I remember someone stating that they knew of a BH Parker that had been sent back to get VH barrels put on. Their gun had VH barrels and that is how they found out about the other guns. Can anyone send me to that write up or to the person that wrote it. I would love to find out about my BH. The serial number they posted was only the first three numbers and that match mine so I am hoping they can give me the rest of the number to see if it is mine. Thank you, Frank

There was a very early BH-Grade 20-gauge that surfaced here at the Spokane Gun Club a couple of years back that had been fitted with ejectors, SST and Vulcan barrels by Remington in 1937. I think it was 84040.

As I recall, there were Vulcan barrelled BH grade guns in the 88,000 range. One was sold in Maryland several years ago. I believe these guns predated VH grade guns.

My serial number is # 82152. I just remember someone said that they had see a report on a BH in the 82,000 range being sent back and have VH barrels put on and the old barrels removed. Thanks, Frank

As I recall, there were Vulcan barrelled BH grade guns in the 88,000 range. One was sold in Maryland several years ago. I believe these guns predated VH grade guns.

I have a CH in the mid 88,000 range and it was originally barreled with Titanic barrels, so that must be one of the earliest T guns.

Guns that were returned to the Parker Gun Works to be rebarreled were often replaced with VH or VHE barrels by the owner’s request because of the lower cost, regardless of what barrels the gun was made with. Keep in mind that the price of a new set of barrels was half the cost of the grade of the gun, soooo the VH or VHE barrels was the lowest priced option.

There are early guns that will letter with black barrels, earlier than black barrels would normally be installed on new guns. A letter would be the only proof.

The gun I was looking at was originally a 30” Damascus gun that was re-barreled by Parker with 30” Titanic barrels. 84xxx range.

1897 must have been the year for steel barrels. Remington Arms Co. introduced their "Remington" steel and "Ordnance" steel barrels on their hammerless double in their April 1897 catalog.

Vulcan steel barrels were introduced in 1896 I believe. Serial number 82225. I own 82226 and letters to being delivered April 18 1896.
If I recall correctly there was one BhE and 12 DHE’s delivered around this time frame.

I have two DEO’s but don't recall the year of manufacture for these Remingtons.

Dean, It was the "around" that had me excited about a 85xxx number gun with Titanic barrels. Turned out to be an 84,xxx gun rebareled by Parker with Titanic barrels.
