...good afternoon, looking for some experienced advice. I have an opportunity to purchase a reconditioned Parker 12gauge, Serial number 100551, V grade, double 30" barrels, choked full, locks up tight, pretty clean... The asking price is $1600.00... What do you think??? Thank you...

Depends on the recondition.....if it was done properly, and you need such a gun, it might be an OK deal. Chances are, though, it's not.

...inspected the gun, wood and metal is clean, tight action, inside barrels look pretty good...

You need to post some pictures in order for people to give any meaningful advice. For $1600 you could purchase a nice "original" V grade.

...Peter, thank you. Sounds like this purchase, even at $1,500, is just an 'OK' deal, nothing special. Where do you suggest I go to get a decent, honest purchase...

Take your time there are plenty of good original VH grade guns out there, but there are plenty that have issues. Take your time, become a member of the PGCA and start your education by reading and asking questions. Good VH's will show up in the members only area guns for sale thread. If you post that you are looking for one, you may get a private message from someone here looking to sell one. Move too fast without competent advice and the cost of your Parker Gun education will be more expensive.

The old saying is "I did'nt pay too much , I payed too early.":)
