Here are some photos of a Baker L grade that I am working on recutting the checkering on. Before and after photo. 28 lines per inch.
These very early high grade Bakers are rarely seen.
The worst thing about this checkering job is that once this L grade is done, I have a second L grade to fully checker as well in the same pattern.

Super rare gun and an outstanding job of recutting the checkering.My eyes hurt just from looking.

The Baker L-Grade is a pretty scarce item. It doesn't appear in a Baker Gun & Forging Co. catalogue Daryl identified to me as 1905. It is in the next catalogue I have which he speculated circa 1906 --

It was also shown in magazine ads in November 1906. This from Outdoor Life --

By issue 4 of The Baker Gunner for 1909 there is no L-grade.

Here is the forend. This was new wood that was made by someone else, but never checkered.

And here they are... a pair of Baker L grades.
One with original Butt and new forend. The other with New butt and forend (wood was not done by me). The finish and checkering was.
