Only Chuck Bishop can tell you. Maybe not, though, since frame sizes noted in stock books came a bit later if I recall right.

Charlie it does get a little heavy at times. When I need a break I take the W C Scott it weighs a pound less. LOL.
I noticed today, my DH made in 1896 is on a 1 1/2 frame.

They were making guns on the 1-1/2 frame in the 1890s. I can tell you that.

The Parker Story references a known 1898 gun with the 1 1/2 frame size so if yours is truly a 1896 gun with athe 1 1/2 frame size it may certainly be or be one of the very first Parkers made on that frame size.

Dean this is my first Parker and the one I reference in the Dog/Parker story I forwarded to you. I had never noticed until today that it was on a one and a half frame, also one of only a dozen DH's mentioned in the Parker Story with the first Vulcan Steel barrels.

I pcked up a CH 1 1/2 frame made in 1895 a couple years ago. I'd have to check the letter for details.

Hi Phil,

My DH was produced in 1895. It's a 1 1/2 frame size.

Best regards,

Jeff Bonadurer

Thanks John and Jeff. It appears so far that 1895 is the earliest so far. Thank you for sharing.

The earliest one here would be a good candidate for Parkers Found.

Parker as a general rule, didn't put frame sizes in the order books. I think I remember a few notes on the frame but very few. The same is true in the stock books up until 1925. Parker changed the type of register they used and it included a column for frame sizes. On the 12ga. generally a 1 frame would weigh in the high 6 pound to low 7 pound range. 1 1/2 frames would be from 7 to the mid 7 pound range, and the 2 frame would be from the high 7 pounds to the 8 pound range. Of course there are exceptions due to barrel length and denser wood. Trojans were on the 2 frame and they seem to be in the 7 pound range from the few pages I've looked at.

My GH 82003 1 1/2 frame was built in 1895. Last I looked in the Parker's Found my serial number is earlier than the one listed.

I just got a DH uplifter that has a 1 frame mark on the barrels number to the gun serial number 26101. What is the earliest 1 frame? Anyone have a guess? Frank

Yes, the 1-Frame goes all the way back to when Parker Bros. first began to make standardized frame sizes.

On the earliest ones the 1 may have not been stamped on the barrel lug but you can bet the pin separations were standardized.

Yes, I would think the first 1 frame would be pretty early. I remember seeing an early 11 gauge on a 0 frame, of all things.

I think I would like to witness in sixteenths of an inch the firing pin separation on that one
