Went to a country auction this weekend, hoping to score a 20 gauge, 2 barrel set Reproduction. Not sure if it had been shot. At least 99%. 26" and 28", PG/BT/SST. Thought maybe I could steal it and resell. Price went past my top bid before I could even raise my hand. Graveled at $4600. Hmmm. Wasted 4 hours, spent $4.50 on two cups of coffee and a hot dog. Maybe next time.

These days with the internet the days of "nobody else knows about it" are pretty much over .

I thought this auction was poorly advertised, until I realized that one of the bidders for the PR was on the phone from Alaska.

John, was this the auction around Grayling that I saw orange-colored flyers for on my last trip there a couple weeks ago? The flyer mentioned Parker guns in the collection. I briefly thought about returning for that and some more bird hunting, but it sounds like there were no buys to be had!

Yep. The flyer was wrong - No Parkers, just the Repro. Huge sale of outdoor gear from a man well know in Grayling. Most amazing items were boxes of trout flies tied by a premier tier which went for about $20 each. Each box held about 12 dozen flies. You do the math. Must have been about 20 boxes.

Well you fellas need to keep looking at your little country auctions, I bought a set of Parker 28 ga 28 inch repro barrels at a bankruptcy action for 30 dollars and they fit my repro perfectly, now I have .410 and 3 sets of 28 gauge barrels for my repro, now if I just had a 14 or 14.25 length of pull and a straight stock.
