so will have to make due with an Ithaca-Lefever .410
Started out with a 300 dollar purchase of a Nitro Special. Put some Cecil Fredi wood on it, and finally got around to having the bbls refinished.
It is now in rotation for opening day doves, and is a lot of fun when used within its range limits.
Here's a couple of pics of the finished product. The lighting was not ideal, but probably matches my photography skills.

Although not the actual gun, this is pretty much what it started out as:

$300 is VERY cheap for a Lefever .410.
Now you just have to have that wood checkered.

Nice job,
saw a Nitro Specal 410 in a gun shop last week. Barrels looked good wood too. Frame had been poorly polished edges rounded and reblued hole in the receiver side no pin.
What a shame. Like to have one

Another former big bore shooter has come over to the dark side. You'll be banished from circles of hunters that shoot booming, kicking howitzers, and told you're a cruel fool. :rotf: Best to lay low. :duck:
Now that you've 'drank the water', here's some of my 410s. And No, I don't have a 410 sxs problem. I just buy all the 410 sxs guns I can afford. Still, all these put together didn't cost me what a single real 410 Parker is worth.
An old Nitro someone put too much money into. I sold it to a friend a few years ago.

A composed pair of late 1920s Ithaca NID Field grade, both are ejector, 28" barrels, which came down the production line together, 3 serial numbers apart. One was sold on the east coast, the other to the west coast. I found them still on opposite coasts, one in the Seattle area, the other in NC. Walt said there's no record of any NIDs having 28" barrels. All records show 26". So, 28" is very rare for NID 410s of which 790 were made.

A Mario Beschi/ICD parts gun. 28" ejector NID copy.

My 28ga Repro with Galazan 28" 410 barrels. Incredibly perfect fit to the receiver.

And the latest one, a Ferlib Italian made gun, I haven't picked up yet.
5lbs 6oz, 28" barrels. Tiny action with super small rose and scroll.

I also drank the Kool-Ade. VHE Parker Skeet, Smith Field Grade, Stevens 5100, AYA #2, and should have bought one of the four Lefever Nitro Specials that sold at an auction I attended last week. One was very minty and sold for a very low price.

I just have my Stevens 5100, but this thread has inspired me to take it to the club and run a few through it!

I am still amazed at how well those little guns can kill clay targets like they do! I have owned a few and still have my repro sets...26" .006/.009 and a little Stevens 311 sold by sears. I have hunted rabbits with that one a few times. I remember taking 3 rabbits with it one season with no misses...(-: I am still dreaming of a nice light 410 and would love to have one of the CSMC Fox gun. I hope to catch Lou at a week moment and have him make me a set for the CSMC Fox de-special 28 gauge that I already own. SXS ohio

Wow! Thanks to Chuck and Kenny for posting pics of those beautiful little .410s! My humble little Ithaca is in some fine company here.
My first real gun was a .410, and I guess I'm just going through my second childhood, at 62 years of age.
Some old guys buy a Porsche, and chase young women. My second childhood involves a SxS .410, a couple of good dogs, and a wife that is tolerant and patient.

Kenny, how much does Tony charge for a set of extra .410 barrels for a CSMC Fox 28?

The price sheet lists 7500.00 if ordered with a new DE grade gun (multi gauge)....it includes the for-end...(-: I would hope the price is close to that number???? They may not offer this service after the gun was sold???? I plan to ask Lou at some point when I can afford them....SXS ohio
