Outside of condition of the gun, how large a part does frame size play in value. If there were two 12 PH gun of equal condition and one was a 2 frame and the other a 1 frame or 1 1/2 frame would there be a price difference ? If so how much? Am new to Parkers and trying to learn. Dan

Smaller frame 410-16s seem more desirable and larger frame 12-10s also. Depends what you want to do with it, are you going to carry it or float around in a boat with it?

I don't think frame size has much, or anything, to do with value given equal condition, gauge, grade of gun. All things being equal on a 12 gauge I would choose the 1-frame.
That's just a personal preference.

I personally think frame size plays a small part in pricing a Parker. It is more likely to be a factor to a hunter/shooter that is concerned more with weight and feel than scarcity. There are two major factors that drive the value of a Parker. #1 condition, condition and condition. #2 gauge; the smaller the gauge the higher the price compared to a gun of similar condition in a bigger gauge (8 ga may be an exception).

12s I have 1 1 1/2 & 2 frames. Each best for its intended use. I don't think frame size had much if anything to do with purchase price. Condition and general configuration barrel Length, choke, etc, did.

I agree with above except for myself I devalue the #2 frame for the simple fact that they used it for so many guns. Plus it tends to be a tad heavier and larger than I like for a 12. Otherwise I don't care.

It's somewhat personal. Some prefer smaller frame others larger. I have a 1 frame 12 and love it, but I don't find a big difference between it and my 1.5 and 2 frame 12s.

My dream gun though is a long barreled 12 on a 3 frame...while I am dreaming, throw in a set of matching 10 gauge barrels.

I like 1 frame 12's for hunting because they tend to be a little lighter. I like 2 frames for target shooting because I think they are better able to handle the wear and tear of high capacity shooting.

There's always those kicker one-off guns as well. I just saw a very high condition 32" Damascus GHE 16ga on a #2 frame sell locally here in the five figure range. The price was driven primarily by condition, but you have to admit 32" sixteens on a two frame are far & few between.

You should see the CHE 32" Damascus 12ga on a three frame that was with the sixteen.

0 frame 16 gauges seem to be desirable and command a premium.

Paul, that must be some hardware store you frequent.

1/2 frames are the only frame sizes that seem to bring a premium in 12 ga. There are guys that collect that size due to it's rarity.

Bill,

It is a nice hardware store for sure.

Another gun that came in with the Parkers I mentioned is something down your alley. A high condition 8 Bore Greener. The family that has owned these guns for decades must have a water fowler somewhere in their gene pool.

That has certainly been my impression as traded some guns and accumulated 16s over the past couple of years.

#3 frames have an enthusiastic following and bring a premium. They are basically a Parker Super Fox. I believe a #1 frame right around 7 pounds would be a fantastic all around upland gun and would bring a premium. I haven't seen any difference in value between 1 1\ 2 and 2 frame 12ga.

Craig, a Parker #2 frame 32" 20 is also a Super Fox.

I agree but they are as uncommon as a 20ga SF. I think Dave Noreen has a #2 frame 32" 20ga Parker???

I have owned two of them, shot one yesterday. A full and full 32" 20 on a #2 frame is an adventure on a five stand. The question always comes up, "What you shootin' in that thing?".

Seems to me an 00 frame 28 ga. is much more desirable than an 0 frame 28ga. And everyone gets excited over 0000 frame 410s too. Works the other way too, large frame 16 and 20 gauges peak a lot of interest as well.

The OP asked about 12 ga frames, not about other gauges and frames.

I have a 2 frame 30" 20 GHE with 3" chambers, s/n close to the Widgeon duck club guns. The breech end of the barrels look like a 600 Nitro Express but the view down the tubes is priceless.

A little off the subject but can you give me an idea of what the serial number range was on the Widgeon duck club guns?

The actual Widgeon gun club numbers are in the TPS but I believe they are in the high 150,000's.
