Before you all start shouting "Throw the bum out!" please allow me to apologize for some poor editing on my part... and on my own article too...

On page 45, right column, second paragraph of "Shot to Destruction" you will see two sets of three asterisks (***) where I had intended to include the 'drop at comb' of 1 15/16" and the 'drop at heel' of 3 1/8".

I hope I have done better in editing all of the other stories and articles (not that they need much, or any at all). If anyone picks up on something that I have overlooked and that should have been corrected or clarified, please discreetly bring it to my attention through a PM or an email.

By our mistakes, we all learn to improve ourselves... and I'm still learning :bigbye:

Thanks for everything you do. also, thanks for the membership roster! It is interesting to see where all the lovers of Parkers guns live. I had no idea there were so few of us in Mississippi! Dan

Got mine yesterday. Great job, Dean. Thanks for reprinting the Austin Hogan article. He discusses one of his lifters that I now own. The pictures of Charlie Parker's .410 are great also. The heads up on the 2016 Annual Meeting was also helpful for scheduling.

Dean,

I got mine yesterday and read most of it (as I have been pretty busy with a lot of other commitments). It is like a bag of chips, don't want to put it down till it's done; also why I'm a little plump (because of the chips)!

My copy came yesterday here in Tennessee. Great issue, thanks for all the work to put it together and get it to us. My Father was a gun trader and my nephew just joined our association. I sold him a VHE to get him started and I think we have him hooked. I was giving him some copies and back issues and explaining why he should join and he just grinned and said he had joined last week. So, we have another convert to the Parker ranks. I couldn't think of a better organization to join or a better hobby than working with you guys to own a nice gun or two. Thanks to all who make it so special for all of us!

Just finished reading the PP this morning, sitting on the front porch of our vacation rental home, down here in the Carolina Low Country of Hilton Head-an appropriate place to read the articles of Mills Morrison and others. Dean's article his restored gun and the Kings Mills powder company interesting, as I was just in Kings Mills a couple of weeks ago and didn't know its history as a gun powder manufacturing center.
I am not a beach person, and had thought about throwing in a gun and case of shells, and getting ahold of Mills, or Tom Pelligrino, or David Dwyer, fine gentlemen I have shot with at Drakes before, but the cap of the truck was loaded to the gills. I will catch up on my reading this week, as I spend as much time outdoors as I can in the summer, and the magazines just pile up. I have been running my 2 setters in the hayfields in back of our house each morning to get them in shape for our upcoming UP trip in October. I will no doubt see Rich, aka COB, Eric Eise, and maybe even Mike Smith as my cabin is just a few miles from Rich's. Young Fancy Girl is doing wonderfully well at the trainers, he likes her so much, she gets to stay in the house with him.
Well, time for another cup of coffee, strum a tune or two on the guitar, and go for a morning run, and dream of soon being in the woods with my Parkers.

Dean:

I make sure that the mailing monies for POSTAGE is received in Village Press's hands within one day after receiving an email of the amount due. Over the years Village Press then promptly gets The Journal to the USPS for distribution to the membership-----so the problem is not the Editor or printer, it is the USPS.

So as to receiving my current issue----no show----it must be liking to the politics of Vermont----NO ACTION !!!!

Allan - Thanks for that explanation, it will help everyone to understand how the 'system' works and wherein the problem with late (or never) arrivals lies.
The 'distribution problem' has always been with the USPS - more specifically, local central distribution centers and main post offices.

I wish there was a way to fix it, but like big government, it needs a complete makeover.
Maybe privatization really is the answer.

I really liked the following articles ;

"One BIG Parker Quality D 10 gauge Top Lever Hammer Gun"

"Black Powder Loading"

"A Hollywood Mallard and Candy"

While I doubt seriousely if I EVER load BP for any of my cartridge shotguns "Black Powder Loading" just might get me interested enough to load some smokeless vintage wad loads in brass hulls .
