Good morning. I have been trying to find a Parker hammer SxS, but I keep running into other hammer guns that I cannot pass. Until I find my Parker, here are pics of my latest find: C. Ingram, 12a, 30" damascus barrels, SxS. The gun has only one serial number marked on the barrels, in front of the forend lug. However, the barrel engraving style at the breach and the rib match the rest on the gun. Is it unusual that the frame is not marked with the serial number? The gun and barrels appear to be in decent condition. The forend has a small crack on the upper left side. I sending the gun to Kirk Merrington for evaluation. Your thoughts and comments are welcomed.

Bill:
That is a fine old Jones lever gun you have there. Well done!

The "serial number" is not a serial number. It is either a barrel number or applied by the Birmingham Proof house... which proofed this gun at 13 bore. There was no law that required UK makers to serial number their guns in those days. Many do not have them. It was the maker's choice.

The crack in the forearm is an easy fix for a good wood man. Kirk will know the best for this job. He will also tell you much more about the gun. You chose wisely.

If the barrels need a hone, he's the best in North America for that!
