I know I am a few days early for photo Friday Photos but just wanted to show off my New Gun for this coming hunting season ! Did you ever see one of those guns that you knew just wasn't all factory correct but couldn't take your eyes off of and just couldn't get out of your mind well being gun guys ,I am sure this is each and every one of us ! This little 16 Ga.really caught my eye so I took a chance and snapped her up, it is a 16 Ga. with an after market Vent Rib ,Ithaca Sight ,well seasoned White Line Pad and Cheek checkering ! It was handed down through a Michigan Family from a Gentleman which was a Great Woodcock Hunter and a Grouse hunter also after the fact ! I took the gun out of the packing box and along with a stack of clay birds and my wife out to the Trap on the lower patio and my Wife loaded the trap and pulled and I commenced to break 20 Straight with this little gun , can't wait till fall !

I love the vent rib. Who do you think made it?

Most likely a Simmons rib with their signature Glo-Worm sight--similar to the Ithaca Ray-Bar!

Thanks all for the nice comments on the gun ,Sorry I dissapeared after posting but I have been waiting on my Allis Chalmers Carb.to come out of the rebuild shop and I got a calla few minutes after posting ! I really liked the Rib also and the main reason for the purchase ! The Gent I bought the gun from gave me some provenance on the gun ,seems his Great Uncle owned it for a long time and it was his go to bird gun ,the Uncles Son worked for a custom Gun Shop in Mi. called Niedner Rifle Corporation and there is much speculation the Rib was done there ,there appears to be no Simmons markings on the Rib ! Is any one familiar with the Niedner Rifle Corp. ?

Neidner, as I recall built custom rifles in Dowagniac(sp),MI. I had a nice 250-1000 they had built on a small Mauser action many years ago. It's certainly possible they did shotgun work as they were very skilled. Simmons did a ton of various kinds of shotgun work and still do Model 12 and 42 upgrades. Another custom shop that did a lot of rib work was Moneymaker in Omaha. Their ribs were not marked as I recall.

Thanks for the post Bill , the seller of this gun said the same ,although Niedner didn't advertise Shotgun work it was always believed to have been done there because of the Son working there !

I haven't heard of neidner gun shop before maybe Eric has. It doesn't look like a money maker rib to me.
I have two Parkers with vent ribs both DHE's with 30 inch barrels a 12 trap and a 20. Some will think the rib is out of place on a SXS but I kinda like these two. Nice gun Russ I'm sure you will put it to good use. Did you get it from MI?

Wasn't there a Neidner butt plate?
Yes they did, John. Pretty sure Neidner also made custom rifles and I believe was a competitor of Griffin and Howe.

Hello Rich ,No the gun came from New York and was inherited by the Great Nephew after it had been passed down through the Family ,but the original owner was a Gentleman by the name of Frederick Behrman Born in 1884 and was a Michigan Farmer ,his son Carlyn worked for Niedners !
