A friend who knows I like Parker's sent me this receipt for a grade 2 10 gauge Parker "Black Powder" gun in 1978. Wouldn't you have liked to bought all these up back then? For some reason the photos rotate themselves. Oh well

back around then i had a friend who was also into double guns

his uncle owned a very nice gun shop. the uncle took a beautiful condition GH with damascus barrels in as partial trade on a new gun from a good customer (he said that was the only reason he took it) - after the deal was complete, he called my friend his nephew to come and get it out of his shop. Gave it to him for free as a "wall hanger"

first Parker damascus I ever saw- what a great looking gun

I was at Ft. Campbell, KY in 1970. There was a gun shop, I forget the name, that I frequented. In the center of the store there was a free standing gun rack about 10-12 feet long and several 55 gal drums. The drums and rack were full of old sxs guns. The sign hung above - Take your pick $50.00. If only I knew!

Speaking of old receipts - while packing up all of my "stuff" from my old office/gun room to bring down to my new 'digs' I came across the receipt dated December 23, 1969 to Long's Jewelers for the diamond solitaire engagement ring I presented to Kathy two days later on Christmas Day 1969. Boy, times were different then. Boy, has inflation escalated out of control. Boy, today's value on that ring is about 10X what I paid my very hard-earned cash for back then.

The other day when I showed that old receipt to Kathy she made some remark about somebody being a cheapskate.....

I don't think she understood that I was earning about $2.25/hr at that time.... so I put it into perspective for her. Now she understands.

Dean, I could not afford an engagement ring for Sylvia in 1962 as I was going to college in Albany and working full time just to survive there. Did have enough for wedding rings, though. 14 karat heavy plain rings. Her's $12, mine size 13, $18. On our 25th anniversary, I did get her a perfect 1 karat solitaire in a platinum setting. At the time, I told her it was my 28 gauge Parker--she laughed.

I remember a long time ago when my wife and I had very little. I had a beautiful C grade Parker - my only possession of any value. I wanted nothing more than to buy my wife a special present for Christmas - a kidney belt. So, I finally was able to sell my Parker for enough money to buy her the belt, only to find out that the very same day she had sold her kidney in order to get enough money to buy me an oak and leather carrying case for the Parker.

Luckily, she had two kidneys so we were able to sell the other one so I could buy my Parker back. The case fit perfectly. All's well that ends well.

She thought that was funny?

Please tell Sylvia "Hi" from Kathy and me.

Greg, I'm very confused... Are you saying what I think you're saying?

A person needs at least one kidney in order to survive or go for dialysis daily.

Back in the sixties I came home from work one day and was informed that the baby was out of formula so I took a Ithaca lever action 22 over to a local hangout and all but gave it away and bought formula. Didn't know about kidneys.

And if you believe that one I own a bridge between Manhattan & Brooklyn that I'll let you have cheep!

My first Parker was acquired by me at the tender age of eight or nine. It is a 10 gauge Grade 3 hammergun with poorley replace wood but in excelland condition otherwise. I traded it to the owner of the service station where my Dad did business. The trade was even for a 16 gauge single barrel Stevens. I still have that first Parker.
He even through in a box of 10 gauge Super X shells.
