I haven't been able to get on for several days; I've read conflicting reports that it works fine for some folks. I'm using Firefox and almost never have problems anywhere. Anyone else?

Zero problems and I use both Firefox and Googlechrome.

I haven't been able to get on for about 2 weeks.
It seems to be a problem with AT&T (U-verse) for me. I can't bring up the site in any browser. If I use a proxy browser, it loads fine. Called AT&T and so far nothing.

I am the Administrator for the Fox web site. I have had issues with AT&T and Comcast blocking e-mails generated by our forums PM system but never blocking access to the web address. Please PM me any details you have and I will try to get it resolved through our IP. Thanks Craig Larter

Craig, I also use AT&T/Frontier and haven't been able to get on for a month now.

Craig, it just won't load and times out. All my other gun sites work fine. Hope this helps.

I PMed Fox Admin on the Fox site. Website times out without loading.

I advanced through two levels of AT&T's "customer service". They were unable to do anything. They refused to admit that they even had a "blacklist" of blocked websites, even though they have information on how to get your IP removed from the list.

Same for me Craig. I do have AT&T U-verse at home, but we have Cox cable at work and I can't get on there either; I'd say it's been 2 weeks plus. First noticed it wouldn't load from my bookmark so I tried to go to the site from the web; still no go.

Craig, this may be a clue. I can load the Fox site in my I-phone but not my PC at home

This appears to be a very common issue with AT&T. I am working with my IP to get it resolved. It could take a while but the problem appears to be with AT&T cable customers. It is not an issue with our server and our server is not blacklisted.

Craig, Thanks for you attention to this.

I think you may find that AT&T and a few others are using third party RBL databases - without cause. The RBL "JustSpam (http://www.justspam.org/policy)" has your IP listed in both their MX and Website IP addresses, just as an FYI...

You can check here to confirm:
http://www.justspam.org/check-an-ip?ip=65.44.220.57

Hope this helps - and having run websites since 1998 - I used to pull my hair out on issues like this... Now? I'm going bald so no hair left to pull ;)

And oh - I did a quick check as well.. You are NOT listed anywhere else.... Take a look, as there are predominant RBLs that ISPs (like me) use to monitor Black List activity:

http://www.anti-abuse.org/multi-rbl-check-results/?host=foxcollectors.com

Best to you - an let me know if you need any other info, OK?

John

Thanks John I requested to be de-listed from justspam.org. Let's see if that clears up the problem with AT&T.

John Dunkle

I think you may need to update the PTR record on your SOA for that zone - as that is what they are complaining about? When you do, increment the SOA serial number by 1 so it propagates to the ROOT servers in 24 hours - usually a lot less...

Honestly? Sites like JustSpam usually mean well - but - are typically run by a bunch of knuckleheads who can't spell "DNS" or "SOA"...

I presume you conducted a DIG on the primary zone, to know all is in order, right?

Anyway - let me know if I can assist, OK??

John

John: Thanks but what you suggest is above my pay grade! Let me see if my IP can clear up the issue, if not I will take you up on your offer. Thanks much. Craig

John, I have no idea what you just said (RBL, NOS, PTR, DIG) but thanks for doing what you do.

John, I have no idea what you just said (RBL, NOS, PTR, DIG) but thanks for doing what you do.

what is the problem-

RBL is one of Connecticut Shotgun's products

New Old Stock is normally used by car guys - but i guess we can use it - I think Brian is to go to guy for that

he must like Peters shells

But - that is the wrong TLA for double triggers

Very weird situation but I haven't given up.

This might help....

To anyone who can NOT connect to the Fox website, please take a moment and:

On your Windows computer - open a command prompt (click on the Windows icon on the left bottom and in the search box, type "cmd.exe" (<- no quotes)). When the command window opens, simply type:

ping foxcollectors.com Please be sure of your spelling! - then press enter...

If you have a MAC - open a Terminal window - and type the same "ping foxcollectors.com"

Let us know if you get a message saying something about "host not found", or if the reply is a bunch of lines that start "Reply from..."

Thanks!

Also, one of the guys who is having the issue open a command prompt and enter:
tracert foxcollectors.com

hit enter

please let me know if it says "trace complete" or "request timed out" once the tracing is complete it should take about 30 seconds to run.

toddbaughman
07-01-2015, 02:13 PM
Ping and Tracert both timed out

AT&T is my cell carrier and I can load the site on my iPhone. Frontier is our internet supplier and I can load the site on my iPad through Safari and from the PC through Google Chrome. Beyond my skill set too.

toddbaughman
07-01-2015, 02:28 PM
I can load it through my cell (AT&T) as long as the Wifi is turned off.
No devices attached to my Wifi (AT&T U-verse) can load the page, regardless of browser.

Craig Larter

Todd:Can you please copy the results from the tracert and e-mail them to me so we can determine where the hops stopped. But it sounds like it is your firewall. Thanks Craig

I've checked the firewall on my computer and the site is allowed.
I haven't been able to access a firewall for the wifi router.

Here is an idea and as most of you know I'm NO COMPUTER WIZ so just sell the Fox's buy Parkers and stay here where everything is wonderful thanks to Mr. Computer our own John D.:rotf:

TLA doesn't that mean top lever action??

Craig, your site will also not send an email to reset the password.

Craig Larter
07-01-2015, 08:19 PM
Steve:The server sends the e-mail but I get a message that it can not be delivered to your account. Again some filter is preventing the message from going through. The biggest problem is with Comcast and AT&T. We seem to never have issues with Time Warner.
Todd: Your problem seems to be your router not the AT&T connection.

Thanks Craig. I have Metrocast. I think trying to re-register may solve it. Steve

Craig, I tried again tonight via my AOL and couldn't get on. Went to Internet Explorer and was able to access the site. So my problem seems to be AOL. Go figure.

Just to update, still cannot get on using Firefox. I have been accessing the site using the proxy browser that was suggested earlier. It just times out otherwise.

So has everyone here gotten past their issues with the Fox site? I still can't get on using Firefox, either through my bookmark or by trying to go direct to the site from the Firefox search page. The only way I can get on is using the proxy browser that someone kindly referred me to earlier. I asked for help over there but no one seems to care.

Phil, Craig and Mike have been on it and the problem is not with the site. It's beyond my pay grade so I can't explain it. All I know is a few guys have issues getting on the site. I can get on immediately with Chrome and Safari. Don't try to say the IT guys don't care. They worked on it and it's an external issue. They are in the process of revamping the site and there will be a new site in the near future.

Phil Yearout

Mike, thank you for the response. When I post here over a month ago (and 13 days ago on the Fox site) and don't get a response, yeah, it seems like no one cares. Had someone told me what you just told me, or what Craig told me today on the Fox site, I would never have made that statement. If that's unfair I apologize.

Have you seen the picture of "Doc" Hall blowin' away his pager when he retired from medical practice? Being 'connected' has its down side.

From "Doc Hall's Journal - The Ramblings of a Sportsman" By James W. "Doc" Hall, III, 1995, published by Wilderness Adventures Press.

I can't tell if that's a Parker (enlarged to its fullest, I can see a recessed hinge pin but...), but I can tell that Doc's gettin' it done!
