Well I am not talking about F-16 pilots, Just about an old gun that was made around 1872-3 but at that time 143 years ago she was the Top Gun! She did not know back that many years ago she would be featured in a book, that would be called the bible of Parker collecting, If interested you can find her on Pages 239,240,241 of The Parker Story Vol 1 In the mean time here are some Photos of a very unusual gun. Ser # 4723 a 10 gauge 32" damascus barrels, with a very unique for end latch and golden hammer screws! Gary

Gary, I'm trying to figure out that forend latch... originally a keyed latch but replaced by something else... Is it a Deely latch or a tensioned snap-on latch?

Can you elaborate on the serial number stamped on the forend iron?

Dean, The number appears to be stamped over the 3 when you look at the gun it appears that a 0 was stamped over the 3, but it is 4723, I do not have a better photo but do have one with this gents name, Gary

Whats that old saying . Something about who has the most toys when they die wins . I would say Mr Carmichael is well on his way to winning

I will do without the toys, just want to be here a little longer, Parkers do make for interesting study! Gary

Gary, Mr. Beecher was a stocker for Parker Bros. at the time.

Was this gun fitted with 10 ga., 32" bbls. at some time? My serialization book says #4723 is a 12 ga. with 30" bbls. if I looked at it right.

Gunho, The letter That I have from PGCA, says that"According to stock book No 2 It was a lifter action hammer gun 10 gauge with 32" barrels, probably just another example of the serialization book being wrong, You sort of have to double check behind that serialization book it has been wrong several times, Gary

I have also found several instances where the serialization book has been wrong. That was also a thought. Thanks.

Gary,

I would guess the answer would be no, but have you ever taken this gun hunting? If you ever did, I would think the Toms would be fighting to decide who got to be shot by such a fine gun.

Next Friday, Stay tuned, for the gun that the buyer said " make as good as can be made" This gun rivals the centennial gun, and I am sure you all will enjoy the photos and documentation from the PGCA letter, I will post this in Photo fridays, Gary

"Back in the day" I thought the chasing was more fun then the actual conquest . Now I see the error in that idea , now I'm all about the conquest and heck with the chase !

The chase is a waste of time and more importantly ENERGY :rotf:

Chasing is for the younger bucks. The older more experienced one use the correct bait and just wait for the prey to come to them.
