Working diligently on the new "Gun Room" and finally after taping and mudding the joints it's beginning to look like the room I had envisioned. The pics make it look tiny but the room is actually 22' X 16'
But who among us can boast of a wife who would offer to get "down and dirty" with us and take on one of the necessary jobs that will bring a room closer to completion... I'm very lucky to have her. Kathy has always taken a big part, right alongside of me, in all the renovations we have made to this home since we bought it in '76.

They don't make women like they used to....my mother has wallpapered and painted houses, inside and out, all her life and throughout her 70's. I'd say she did it 'professional quality' as long as you understand that means a professional of the old days, not the cobblers nowadays that stick a magnetic sign on their truck door and charge $95/hr

Wow
That looks a lot different since I was there after the Amoskeag auction.
The project has taken a lot of time and effort but it will be a place where you can spread out your stuff, photograph guns and actually relax. And maybe invite friends in for a coffee or something else.
Let me know if you need help moving stuff in Dean-o.
Of course now that this is almost done, you can start on that stairway.........

Thanks George - you really know how to cast a dark cloud over an otherwise sunny disposition.... :throw:

Awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product. Our whole house is a man cave, but we don't have a dedicated gun/game room. One of these days . . .

Yeah, me too.
The stairway that George refers to is the one I will be building from my present 7' X 12' gun room... which is hopelessly cluttered with all my stuff and some of Kathy's too. It has become totally unmanageable the way it is.
When we remodeled our kitchen the first time, in about 1979, (remodeled again in '04 with a 12' X 14' addition) we eliminated the stairway to the basement. For the longest time we didn't miss it... but lately it has become a PITA to shovel snow all the way around to our basement door, so a new stairway has become a necessity of late.

Is she in charge of installing the new door knob? Might want to check which way the lock is facing, we don't want any "accidents"!

There's nothing "wrong" with your barn as a structure....

Aha!, So, now I see what's going on here. Georgie comes over for his fabulous Hayes Try Gun wrench, sneaks into my barn, and reports back the current state of affairs? So who appointed you The Good Housekeeping Hall Monitor? I thought that was Chucks job. He's been after me to clean up my basement workshop, so I spent an entire rainy Saturday down there. I don't 'spose that rat, Purtill mentioned that did he?
Truth is it was also to make room for my new Rockwell Uni-Saw.
Some of these projects require turning (in the basement) then milling (in the barn). The Bridgeport is in the barn, partly because it weighs about one ton, and partly because there's about 1/2" clearance between the ceiling in the basement, when I have to pull the draw- bar up. My wife told me I couldn't bore a 1" hole in the kitchen floor.
From now on, all (Non-Paying) customers will no longer be allowed in the production area. They will have to sit in the waiting room and read Martha Stewart, or Better Home Journal.
Wattaya bet now we hear from Stosh, telling me to clean my Bridgeport.
My barn might be a mess, but it's cleaner than that 'Charlie Purple'. Don't stink as bad either.

Jeeeeez- You have 3 of them right now. How many more do you want?

Edgar I did not leak a word about what a mess your barn was and that even mud covered Charlie didn't want to come in. I will however publicly acclaim your new and improved basement and that larger than an aircraft carrier table saw you now possess.

I apologize George. It would appear there's a mole out there somewhere.
There is the slim possibility Dean just took a guess and nailed it.
Good Ole Charlie Purple; he was having a ball mucking about in the pond. I think that's a good sign.
