A very nice display of Parker shotguns showed up at the California side by side state shoot this weekend including a 40 1/2" 12 ga GH.

Just when you think you've heard it all! That would be cool to shoot.

would have liked to seen this long barrel beauty...i know of a single barrel 12 ga long tom that has a 48 inch barrel..have tried to buy it with no success the owner says he will sell it to me when he finds one with longer barrels...i ve often wondered what the longest set of barrels parker brothers have made...charlie

This collection included a 8ga under lifter (2nd from top on right side) an A grade hammer gun (left side bottom gun)

Looks like the long barrel gun might be a G-grade, not a GH-grade.

Correct my goof. There will be better pictures with close ups posted on the California side by side website soon. Some more great news is that Dave Feline is progressing well on using his left eye to shoot right handed with his own design of sight added to his barrels.

Good god! That must be the one taking up 3/4 of the table?

Seen a 40.5" 8g, but a 12g is very interesting.

Do you recall if the top rib was matted or not?

40-1/2"?? I'd be suspicious that they'd been cut down from 46"...!

Brian,
I did not notice but hopefully there will be close up photos to clear things up. The gentleman that owns these was apparently friends with Larry L. Baer

Being a hammer gun, it would depend on the serial number. But... I was asking because the other 40.5" barreled gun that I know of is a hammerless and the rib is not matted. I figure that the Parker matting machine could
Not handle that length of rib.

This hammer gun could be made before they were starting to matte ribs.

My guess is it's the collector from the Dallas area who (I think) also owns the long barreled W.P. Chrysler gun.

One of my favorite pictures in the Parker Story is the one of Charlie Green with his 40" DH and a turkey. Maybe one of these days . . .

If a gun had barrels that are too long, you wouldn't be able to shoot anything with it.
