My 10 gauge Grade two hammer gun was returned from Brad Bachelder's shop this week.

Brad did a full restoration on this 1884 three frame 10. The finish was in rough shape, but the wood had no cracks and the minimum barrel thickness was .058+.

I spoke to Brad after I was stunned by the quality of his work on Gary Carmichael's 10 under-lever “Just another C Grade” posted here last year. This Grade Two hardly matches the beauty of that C grade, but it does have a nice Damascus pattern.

I posted several pictures on this forum of this old duck gun before I sent in in last year:

Anyway, I am very pleased with the results and it was a pleasure dealing with Brad and his staff. My apologies for the so-so quality of the pictures, I was hoping for cloudy-bright conditions to shoot out of doors, but it was just another sunny California day.

I really like the grade 2 hammer 10's. I have one that is a close match to yours and it is death for turkeys, duck and geese. Brad did a great job on the resto.

I like that a good bit even though I'm not real big on restore refinish !

What was done with the buttplate since you had a 3 frame sized plate and a 2 frame size was put into it? Wood taken down?
