Small gauge Lefevers are a little hard to come by, the most common being the Durston Special. I already own a little DSE 20 with 26" barrels--26" and ejectors not commonly found, but I have had the LACA guys check it out and they gave it their blessing. I picked up another DS 20 that is also very unique. It has the features of an H grade Lefever. The Lefever book states that all DS guns were made with round knob/POW grip, the fore ends were a plain snap on splinter, and the butt plates were simple lined. Well, this little gun is trying to re-write the book. It has a monogram LAC butt plate, a fluted pistol grip cap, metal escutcheon and metal tip on the fore end, and darn it, it also has twin brass beads on the rib. Unfortunately someone had polished the receiver, so I sent it out to be re-case colored--really didn't want to do that! It of course is on the small frame, or XX frame, and has 28" barrels choked a loose IC/M . I haven't weighed it, but feels less than 6 lbs.
I know their are a lot of knowledgable Lefever guys here(not me), so I am interested in your opinions.

Thanks Daryl, cant wait to get out and shoot it, it may be great little grouse gun with its open chokes.
You should have seen the nice Hunter Arms 12 hammer gun I was offered this afternoon, It had been case colored at the same time as the Lefever and was very nice

You've got some really great guns there Harold. Who is doing your case coloring?

Harold seems like DS 20s attract to you like a magnet. I have been looking for a set of DS 20 barrels for a few years so if you find some please let me know.

Jerry Andrews sent the gun out for case color, and I believe it was somewhere in Montana. I'll ask him the name of the company.

Harold those are beauties.
You are going to cut quite the figure, carrying any of those, walking up on a point behind your Setter!

Especially on Lefevers I have always used Buck Hamlin for any work including new case colors. I don't know of anyone that has done more Lefever restoration work.
