All:

As I stated in my first post, among my dad's shotgun collection is a Parker 16 GA.

I was trying to determine it's general condition, so I took the barrels and forend off the action and cleaned off all the gunk and dirt buid-up.

I have other break barrel shot guns so I knew how to put it back together, or so I thought.

The barrels go back on like most other break action guns, but when I try to put the forend back on it won't latch all the way. There are two curved pieces on the inside of the latch at the base of the forend. Do these have to be depressed? If so, how does one accomplish this?

If you go to the home page in the FAQ #15 discusses this

Sounds like you have an ejector gun. For the forend to install, both the ejector hammers on the forend as well as the hammers in the action need to be COCKED.

The forend. Hammers can be cocked by pushing back on the hammers with a block while the forend is in a vise or some other way of holding it.

The gun can be cocked by carefully opening the barrels while fully pushing in on the unhooking pin in the nose of the frame .

Thanks for the info. Turns out they were in the correct position. It was the latch inside for forend that had toggled to the wrong position. All fixed and and back together.
