Just came into possession of this old beauty.
S/N 56592 D
Has two sets of barrels. The original Damascus, 30" with visible pattern and a 28" set of Spec Steel. Serials match.
Case in the protected areas, but pretty much gone everywhere else.

Congratulations Mark. 56296 was the first hammerless Parker made and the early hammerless engraving motifs were very interesting. May we please see some pictures of yours?

Oh yeah - love that early hammerless engraving and the setter on the floor plate ties it all in. Thanks.

Do the special steel barrels have a matching serial number on your gun? Likely could be a later addition by the factory.

In looking at the records I believe you mean 55296 was the first.
Being that there a hundred or so missing numbers before that number, there could be on earlier, but that is what the "book" says.
As a sidebar, I have number 56186 in my parts bin.
It is a 1 frame hammerless GH 12g. It is not in the book, but based on what is, it would have been between the 40th and 50th hammerless gun built.

Yup, you got me there Brian - but Dave already corrected me on that.

I was actually reading this post in between doing an audit of my parts A&D book and when I noticed that number I had, it got my attention.

Anyone have an idea on value? It seems to be all over the place.
