Mark,
Thanks for giving everyone a heads up. As always this was on our calendar very early. Not sure why Ernie moved it up to Thursday but we usually go a day early anyway to shoot Rock Mountain so this year I guess we will just visit Mike on Sunday.

Dean Romig

We wouldn't miss it. Definitely a big favorite for Kathy and me.

This is my favorite shoot! The course is great, the big tent always holds SxS bargains that I can't possibly live without, and because everyone comes to the big tent, there is a lot of comradery!

Mark Beasland
01-27-2015, 07:59 PM
Mark, Don't forget the bargains in the little red trailer! and to stop by the Hospitality awning for a refreshment!

PS thanks for the great photo!

Was just wondering when the shoot was and hoping it didnt conflict with my wifes birthday, looks like we are good to go. This is my favorite shoot also- I may get in Wed afternoon this year, never shot at Rock Mtn before, but heard its top knotch also.
See you all there

Mike Koneski
02-04-2015, 09:47 AM
Of all the SxS shoots I attend, this is my favorite. Could be because it's not even 1/2 hour away!! Ernie had his reasons for moving it up a day. Just gives me an extra day off!! WOO-HOO!!
BTW, don't forget the Fox-Parker Challenge. Can you say "DOMINATION"?

Dean Romig
02-04-2015, 09:54 AM
Yeah, I can.... "Domi-Parker-Nation!" How's that? :draw:

Unfourtunately the dates for this year's NE conflict with the dates for the Rochester Gun show that I help organize. We are moving to a new location and shows are being held in June and Sept now.

For this year's NE, I will not be able to exhibit with tables as I cannot be there the whole time. But I will be there on Thursday and Friday Morning.

Mike Koneski
02-04-2015, 12:59 PM
Yeah, I can.... "Domi-Parker-Nation!" How's that? :draw:

Wager??

Dean Romig
02-04-2015, 01:51 PM
If Team Fox needs even more humiliation, I suppose a small wager could be arranged.

How about the team shooting the lower score make a $100 contribution in the name of the PGCA vs. AHFCA Challenge to the NSSF's youth program http://sssfonline.org/donate/ ??

Will that do?

Dean, if by "more humiliation" you mean another Team Fox victory, then yes, we're ready for more!!! :rotf: We can discuss this more as we repeat the Fall Southern Parker victory over LC Smith down at the Spring Southern. :) We could also make it more interesting and the losing team must use the winning team's brand of gun in the Main Event. You guys all own Fox guns?

I'll be there with my 16 ga. Trojan. If I remember correctly, I promised Edgar that he could shoot it.

That settles it. I'll be there, same camping spot as usual.

And, by "shoot it" you mean I can point it down range and let shot fly? Only reason I ask is every time I see someone throw a new gun up to their shoulder, they say something like "Wow, I could shoot this gun". Well, Duh..........so could I. Now, hitting stuff, that's another matter entirely.

I had saved an article at one time- wish I could find it

the premise was that it was disrespectful to the author's ancestors to camp or sleep outdoors

he said that his ancestors had suffered and fought the elements and beasts for thousands of years so that he could sleep in a comfortable bed in an air conditioned or heated home and warm his food in a microwave.

and after all they went through he would not insult their memory by moving back to the woods

So our landscape people were here today for spring cleanup. My owner friend told me one of his crews was doing some gas pipeline remedial work out near Hausmann's on Tuesday of this week. And believe it or not they ran into frost in the ground at a depth of 2.5 feet. Coldest winter in exactly 100 years according to the records. Maybe things will thaw by June?

... And believe it or not they ran into frost in the ground at a depth of 2.5 feet.

I had a first-hand report from an excavator operator of frozen ground 5' deep in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom.

COB, The Inn is one of our favorite restaurants!! The steak is always done perfectly (crispy outside and twitching/red inside) and is good no matter how it is served or which cut you choose. Veggies are outstanding, apps are wonderful and the apple crisp w/ice cream is an outstanding dessert!! We may have to make an appearance there one night of the shoot. :)

My Repro three barrel set 410-28-28 set and 1884 grade 2 hammer gun that Brad B. 100% refinished and my new CSMC Fox de spl. 28ga. Gents, I shot a 12-gauge Parker with my gang today at Rock Mtn and came in with 86/100. Second behind my friend Allen who did 88/100 with his Beretta competition gas gun. Strange thing is, the Parker has been in my safe/not fired over about 4 years. Full & X-full choking. Missed 5 birds in the first 25 getting into the gun, and then 2 real close screaming rabbits. The other misses were just random here and there. Maybe I'd better rethink the Challenge?

Dean Romig

I have a room at the Montrose Inn for Thurs and Fri, but have seriously been thinking on camping . Allan and Edgar really seem to have it down to a science, and would seem to be relaxing. Matt and Kenny are also camping out. I started loading the camping gear in the truck Sun, but then wifes sister ended up in the ER and ended up with 3 stents, and now I have an abcessed tooth that will need a root canal. Luckily, I started pumping he antibiotics Sun and it is going down and hope to hold off the root canal until next week.
I am planning on getting in Wed eve, so hope to shoot on Thurs morn.
See you all then

Me and Matt Valinsky had a great time camping!...good weather for the shoot and the camping. It was good to meet all the SXS shooters from PGCA and yes the Fox boys too. I shot a GHE-20 for the challenge qualifier but only scratched down 29 targets, we only counted the ones that broke from in flight pellet damage! ...should have had my 16. I shot a 30 with my CSMC DE-28 on the small bore course. Next year I will bring a bigger cannon for the Parker shoot! The camping was great fun and the cot made for good sleeping. The fellers who stayed in town missed out on the night life you get when camping...lots of show and tell, single barrel, T-bones, burgers and more. We stayed saterday night and the sky was filled with stars like you never see at home...awesome indeed. Next year we might even get one those hot water shower set ups...(-: Thanks to all who made this happen, it was a great time indeed! SXS ohio

Absolutely, I was camped next to Kenny and Matt, and had a great time. Sure, I missed the BS sessions back at the hotel, but it was really relaxing. Edgar and Allen were camped there also, and everyone shared their spirits, food, and the talk was great. Dean, Dave, and Larry had a canopy set up below mine where they could rest a little when they were not working in the Parker-Fox tent or shooting yhe course - thanks guys for all your hard work and dedication.. I met the boys from New Hampshire, Scott, Bill ,Frank, and Pete and tagged along with them shooting--someone has to be low gun. no wonder those New hampshire boys ran the British out in the Revolutionary war-they can really shoot. It was good to see Daryl Corona back on his feet, and knee surgery certainly didnt slow down his gun swing
I loved the small bore course, and shot it well( for me), but the 12 bore course was quite humbling, leaving alot of good shooters grumbling. I may just leave the 12's at home next time. Sorry to say that was probably the last major shoot of the year, but will continue to shoot locally.

It was great to meet you too Harold and I enjoyed shooting with you as well. We had great weather and nice time all around.

I had a superb time, though not because of the well maintained course, fresh batteries or new controllers. NOT....
But the best part of that shoot is the camaraderie. Wonderful to meet SXS Ohio and his sidekick Matt. Great to see the NH shooters. I agree Harold, the NH boys can shoot like he__. (edited for the Mean Moderator).
Great to see the Michigan boys.
Daryl was in great shooting form and let me buy a Fox from him- 30 inch Gen-1 A grade which performed well at the Rock.
It is impressive how far some of our members travel for the NE SXS.
The list of great PGCA people there at HHH goes on and on, but as someone said above- its is a great place to finally put names to faces and vice versa. .....And it wouldn't hurt to have an official PGCA nametag that us regular folks could buy.

I did notice that many did have PGCA nametags, but I never asked where they got them. Very handy for one who often has a hard time remembering names and where he left that Parker laying--anybody seen my DHE 16?

I always save all the name tags I can my hands on to use at gun shows and events. They come in handy. I know last year at Ernie's the PGCA table had tangs out for people to fill out. Others likely kept them.

By the way, I ended up bringing a pet home from Ernie's. A tick that my wife had to remove from the back of my leg on Sunday morning. Check yourselves over guys!

I don't need any PA hitch-hikers... we have enough resident ticks here already.

The NH boys and I had a great time. What more can you ask for? Great weather, great people, lots of shooting, and seeing and talking to good friends. We got to PA early on Wednesday and shot "The Rock" and were very impressed. The presentation of the targets and the club house is beautiful with a Mountain Lion staring at you when you enter through the door. I'm sure the shoot in September is going to be a huge hit.

We stayed at Betty's farm house which is about 4 miles from HHH. Scott has been going to PA to hunt deer since '92 and Betty and Scott have been friends ever since. She treats us all like her own kids. Home cooked meals, nice scenery, very peaceful, and lots of laughter.

Here are a few pics....

It was a great time as always, with good friends and lots of shooting. The highlight for me was the unexpected opportunity to shoot some double rifles. There was a 360 hammer gun and a Holland & Holland 500 BPE (black powder express) very, very cool :) I NEED to get one of those.

As usual HHH provided me with another fine firearm that was in desperate need of adoption to a better home:rolleyes:

You know Frank... until recently, I thought you WERE one of the NH boys. I still get confused.

We gave him an honorary membership and a Green card so he can come and go from NH for his shooting lessons with us. :rotf: To be honest he's a really bad influence, encouraging us to buy Lefever's, Fox's and Ithaca's. :)

From what I hear, my name was draw not once, but two times on Saturday afternoon for the gun giveaway. And I wasnt there of course!!! Good thing it wasnt an RBL again. Or I would be very disappointed. I guess it was just a Nitro Special or something. But hey, a free gun is a free gun.

Brian, it was a drawing for door prizes, not specifically for the gun. The 12g was on the table for a while.

A few pictures from the weekend in PA.... not all gun related.

Apparently there was a big street rod meet in PA over the weekend but this is the only one we saw on the road. Massachusetts Turnpike, almost home when we passed it. Looks like a '34 but I didn't get a good look at the blown engine to know what it is.

Shea and Grace got along famously... couldn't get enough of each other.

Anybody know who belongs to this Parker?

I do - lets see if the owner can identify his own gun.

If it was up to me it wouldn't be yours. But alas it is. A beautiful late Remington 12 gauge straight grip VHE. 32 inch?

She's very special to me. She was my first Parker, bought in 1971 for $600, and cased in a beautiful Red Head LOM. I knew nothing about Parkers at the time but only that I wanted one. It's been all downhill since then.:crying:
It was followed up 6 months later with a straight grip 20 VHE, one of the "transition" guns, which I traded a Belgian Browning made for the European market. That Browning set me back $400. Saw the for sale add in the grocery store. My, my how times have changed.
