Thanks the gun checks out to these specs. Seller wants too much but I am going to make an offer. The gun is about 50%. Unfortunately wants 6K. Metal and wood looks very good and the Skeleton butt is still intact.

Phillip: That doesn't sound like too much for an honest 30 inch 16 gauge DHE.

Just My Humble Opinion......George

I'm with you on that one George. If the gun is in reasonably good condition I would think 6k was a very fair price.

Thanks for the feedback. I will be going to make an offer after lunch today. I'll post some pictures if it all comes together. Looks like the gun was made 1910. Any idea how many 16 DHE were made?

Phil

Dave since your on the topic so to speak how many GHE 16's were produced with 30 inch vent rib bbls?

If your nice and share your cookies I"ll bring it to PA and let you shoot it:corn:

Richard,According to the vent rib section in the "Parker Story" there were 47 vent rib G grade guns.I don,t know if this takes into consideration guns that were retrofitted.

Richard: If the DHE that you're looking at has a factory vent rib I would venture to say that 6K would be a heck of a deal!

Just My Humble Opinion.......George

The PGCA extrapolated (I love that word) figures do not include ejector or vent rib guns separate from other more coveted non ejector and solid rib guns.:duck:

Bill,Are you talking about the section in Volume 2 that shows vent rib guns?

Well I put together a deal on the gun today, and brought it home. Actually nicer then I remembered the other day. I will try to post some pictures once I take a few and figure out to post them. I will get a letter on order right away. Did not get a lot of history, but was told that years ago the guy I bought it from received it from his dad. His father had gotten the gun when his father was getting up in years and wanted to clean out a bunch of stuff he had stored in a building. He told his kids to go through the stuff he had stored and take what they wanted before he got rid of everything. The Parker although taken by one son was never shot and stayed in storage for two more generations. Best I can tell the gun has been stored for about 50 to 60 years. Not sure about the first half of its life but clearly was not used a lot and was cared for. 30" barrels choked extra full / extra full from what I can tell. May have a story or two if it could talk. It has been a real Parker week, as I also bought a 20 gauge Trojan that is in excellent condition.
Seems like a lot of nice stuff coming out of the closets here in the West.

No, Dave, I was not talking about the separate vent rib list. I was talking about the extrapolated totals in the "Grades" chapter. Am I correct in assuming from Anderson's post that he does not own The Parker Story? Does he use a dime for a choke gauge? No wonder he likes open bored guns, all the guns he buys have open bores whether he wants them that way or not.

Bill,He probably does own the "Parker Story"but finds it better to have one of us do the work...:duck:

Pictures of 16 gauge, Gun needs to be carefully cleaned up, but in good condition for being 100 years old this year. Sent for a Parker letter last night.

A very nice gun Philip. I don't see much that needs cleaning up - be careful. If it were mine I don't think I would do anything to it.

Phil, I agree with the rest of the folks, you did good and be carefull about what you clean up. The gun looks pretty damn good as it sits, maybe just a little oil and wax....

Wow. Nice.... I love these 'Parker coming out of closet' stories... Just think of what else is still out there and waiting to be found.

I Wiped down with Clenzoil, and put a little Carnuba wax on the wood. Cleaned up nice. The plating on the triggers is still bright. Were the triggers silver or nickle plated?

Dave Suponski

Phil,D Grades had nickle plated triggers.

Thanks Dave, also can anyone tell me if the B marked on the barrels were it shows the 1, designates anything? Also weighed the gun it weighs 6 lbs 10 OZ. Really looking forward to getting the letter, and this weekend so I can shoot it with some 2 1/2" RST's.
