Teague fixed chokes

Are these still available in the good old USA! Anyone have any experence with them? I have a 1 frame 12 ga underlever that has very open chokes and not enough barrel wall thickness for Briley. I understand the Teague chokes can be permently installed ?

In the UK, Teague has been absorbed by Westley Richards. In the US, there may be some fellow in MT who is still doing it. But I may be wrong on that.

In either case, the process is not cheap. Plan on well over $1000 to put Teague liners in a gun. This is probably why the idea failed. Too expensive on too many guns. Worth it on a Purdey or Boss... but for an average Parker?

I thought Teague also offered just choke inserts rather than full barrel liners. ? I may just have to try and find a second barrel with some choke in it .

Good barrel evaluation requires a good barrel man. I'd contact Kirk Merrington for options. There is none better. His website is merringtongun.com

Have you considered permanent choke sleeving by Mike Orlen? His price list quotes $95/bbl., $75 if you're a dealer or member of the SGW BBS.

Trying to find a set of barrels for a lifter I would think will be difficult unless you buy a gun just for the tubes. Whats wrong with the open chokes?

I was fortunate to be able to spend some time with an excellent instructor, Carl Brandt. The open choke, 5 mm, was great out to 35 yards but beyond that was a problem. I switched to a tighter choked 20ga and did well, so it was not me. Yes, finding a 30" 1 frame underlever barrel with some choke is difficult.

Talked to Michael and he can not do soldered in chokes on a Dam barrel. The metal is to soft. He can jug choke it though and feels he can give me 10 thousands constriction. Worth a try.

.010 would do wonders to shape the pattern up. Seldom do any of us really need more. Sure worth a try and Orlen will not lead you astray.
