Just thought I would say hello to all the members as I got signed up awhile back.
I'm new to Parkers as I just bought a grade 1 16 gauge built in 1913 the gun is well used but still tight and should work well on my hunts in Washington and North Dakota. There is a slight crack in the wrist of the stock, so I need to get that fixed before I take it in the field.
If anyone can recommend a good person to look at the stock I'm all ears
A little bit about myself, I'm 55 and retired, I spend about 40 days a season hunting ducks and upland along with some big game hunts in between. During the off season we spent a ton of time in the mountains with our horses and mules exploring the back country.
I live in central Washington so we have some great hunting opportunities here close by.
I have several12 &16 gauge LC Smiths and Remington model 1900 12 ga, and a fully engraved Steyer 12 gauge that are my upland guns. For waterfowl I shoot mostly semi auto 12's
Anyway I hope to learn more about Parkers and hopefully I can acquire a couple more as time goes on. I just really love good solid American made shotguns.
Best

Welcome to the PGCA. There are people here who know just about everything about guns and they're willing to freely give of their knowledge. Let me be the first to invite you to become a member. One of the benefits is you have access to the for sale section of the forum and will get to see guns that the general public doesn't get to see. Plus you get the Parker Pages magazine with great articles about hunting, shooting and collecting.

Folks , Thanks for the warm welcome and the info on someone to look at my new gun,
Sorry for the late reply, got a call from the local game dept guy, guess I was next up on the list for a damage control elk hunt west of my place so I got to go out and shoot a nice big cow elk yesterday afternoon, the hardest part of the hunt was watching a monster 6x6 bull walk around after I crawled up on the herd.
Thanks again for all your help I'll get signed up as a member and who knows there just might be another Parker in my future!!

That cow will be some good eating for sure. Was the problem control hunt strictly for cow or were bulls legal also? Another Elk hunt is on my list of things to do.

The damage hunts are for cow only, I'd have a house full of giant bulls if we could shoot them on these hunts!!
It's amazing how they know when there safe from the hunters, there were at least 30 bulls with all the elk I saw yesterday.

Either way it's meat in the freezer. Our late deer season is antlerless only as well. I'm a rifle nut so I have to ask what did you use on the Elk?

COB I shoot a Tikka t-3 in 300 wsm , I added a muzzle brake, Limbsaver pad and a home made cheek piece to get my eye in line with the scope after I ditched the factory rings and added a evolution gun works rail and Blackhawk rings.
The Scope is a 3.5-10 Leupold vx-3 that I sent back to the factory and had a elevation turret added, I shoot a hand load with a 180 grain Nosler Accubond bullet at 2900 fps, the gun is sighted in to be dead on at 250 yards, I have dots on the dial for 400-500 and 600 yards, yesterdays shot was my farthest to date on an elk, 474 yards.
I have a good friend here in town who was a sniper Instructor for 9 years, he also did a tour in Somalia and 4 tours in Iraq. He has helped me set up my gun and and provided me with some good basic training on long range shooting, last month I shot a three shot group at 600 yards that was just inside of 6 inches.
