Just received this from Geoff Gournet. Quickie amatuer photos do not do justice. Began as an unfinished A-1 repro, deep chisel engraved to approximate original #172205, page 357 Parker Story. Geoff is a true modern master.

Mike, I believe Brian Dudley already has so I might as well too. He assembled it after Turnbull colored the parts.

Greg, I realized awhile back that I was not going to be able to take anything with me so decided to go out in a blaze of glory by supporting artists like Geoff and leaving something nice behind, hopefully not too soon.

That gun is about as "Early A-1 Special" as anyone has ever seen.

Geoffroy spent a lot of time on this, says he will never do another like it, but was glad for the opportunity. The chiseling is deeper than the typical lily/floral style, edges & tops of vines, leaves, flowers, etc must be rounded, shaped and individually polished.

Thank you Forrest for posting this Parker . Pictures are good and are the only one I will have. The scrolls and leaves are not flat but shaped , you can see the reflection of the light on it , and the back ground deep . It is the first time that I did this pattern in this manner and it was a lot of work compared to regular flat shaded leaves . Brian Duddley ( and Turnbull) finished the gun and send it directly to Forrest . Thank you to the discret owner of the original for providing extra pictures .

Here are some good photos that I took of the gun before I shipped it back to Forest. I blued the barrel sets, guard, buttplate and other small parts along with handling the final assembly of the gun. Turnbull did the Case Coloring and extensive Jeweling work.

(Dean : Please tell us how many hours you have put into engraving this wonderful gun.)
I spent much more time than expected and than most of the guns I have done . I end up to lose track of it and it became the " enless taptap gun" (# 12-189) . An engraving is never finished because never perfect . It was with a great satisfaction that I saw this project reaching the end . I am grateful to have such guns in my hands what the customers make possible .

That gun is a work of art if I've ever seen one. Bulino is another form of engraving art but for me personally this one is what I'd choose. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

John, Geoffroy is equally adept at Bulino as well as other styles. Check out his website:

Andrew, or anyone else, I have an extra unfinished A1 like this I would sell for my cost, then you can have Geoffroy engrave whatever you want. PM me if interested.
