In Kentucky, we have a tradition dating back over 200 years called "Court Days". In the small town of Mt. Sterling, in the eastern Appalachian region, tens of thousands of people from all parts of the state and all across the country gather to buy, sell and trade every kind of item imaginable. As I make this pilgrimage each year I am drawn to the guns that turn up by the thousands in hope of finding something I need to add to my modest collection. At Court Day there are no background checks that I am aware of, no FFL calls to get permissions, no paperwork and no one raising any concerns about the thousands of people who are toting guns of every description all around town. This has been going on for 200 plus years and as far as I know there has never been any problems. Today I saw several Parker's for sale. One was a GHE 12 gauge for $800. It had clipped barrels and mismatched numbers. There was a PH with the nickle plated frame that I've seen before, also for $800. Leaning up against a railing was an old 10 gauge lifter. It was off face, pitted and the stock was cracked. Asking price $400. A beautiful CG Bonehill side lever was walking around with a $400 price tag also. Tight and right in every respect but, when I inquired about the 20" barrels I was informed, "they were all made that way over there". Didn't buy any of those but, I did buy a nice Berretta 92 A1 9mm for my sons 25th birthday. Hottest selling item this year - the bamboo pillow! I bought two.

Charlie you would be in heaven. You could load up a trailer full of goods, bring them to town and horse trade from daylight til dark, Friday through Monday. Court Day is one of those things that if it was ever made and transportable it will show up for sale.
Angel, Rick and Dean, like you I was ignorant of the wonders of the Bamboo Pillow until I achieved enlightenment yesterday. The Bamboo Pillow is a memory foam pillow inside a bamboo fiber pillow cover. We all know the mystical properties of bamboo and when woven into a fiber and used to cover a pillow miraculous things happen deep in the night. They were selling like hotcakes and when word of a vendor was sold out the price would immediately go up. I was in line for a 2 for $20 deal and when the booth next door sold out they went 2 for $35. I know you're wondering, "How did you slep though"? To be honest, like a baby.

This really sounds like a great weekend. Unfortunately, out of necessity I live in New Jersey. If this ever occurred in NJ with people carrying guns as you describe the Gov. would call in the National Guard. In the Peoples Republic of New Jersey our legislators are continually passing more and more restrictive laws in order to save us from ourselves. Very sad!

It is very sad. It's hard to imagine the good folk of Kentucky ever letting themselves be subjected to that kind of government oppression. Maybe next year you should come down and see it for yourself.

I do love a good hillbilly flea market, they're one of the places I feel most at home in the world.

I slept completely through the night last night. They make a little travel size and you just gave me a great idea Eric. Here's a pic of the brand I have. They're on eBay. I have the "firm". John might have to create a new forum for "Bamboo Pillow". Or maybe I'll have "Parker Bros Bamboo Pillow" printed on the casing and sell them and get rich.
