With a minimum bid of more than 10X my recent Trojan purchase, I might let this guy auction it off for me. Is this caveat emptor or am I missing something???
Have a look (http://www.icollector.com/Parker-16ga-Trojan-grade-double-barrel-shotgun-with-approx-28-barrels-fully-and-finely-restored-a_i8788407)

To the uninitiated "caveat emptor" is certainly warranted and I don't think they'll get even one bid from anyone with even a modicum of Parker knowledge.
That grade of black walnut belongs on a G grade and the sculpting is not true to an original Trojan stock.

A few items previous to this one is a CHE with factory single trigger, ejectors, and skeleton butt for a starting bid of $1200.

Ed: I need educating. Is your message tongue in cheek or is that part of the true provenance or..........???
Thanks,

Thanks Ed:)
I would be the guy coming up from behind to ask the question and getting the master's response :)

Jack, you may not have been aware, but the munchkins from the Wizard of Oz had their own trap team and there is munchkin provenance for many of these short stocked, high drop guns. Serious munchkin collectors seek out these guns and pay astounding amounts.

Thanks Bruce. It will be interesting to watch this auction go over. It is live now. Its as if someone mixed up the Trojan CHE estimates and starting bids. At its start price, the Trojan must go up in 1K increments !! Besides possible provenance (Munchkins) how does this restoration look to your CHE eye? I think the colors seem almost translucent so pretty good work compared to so many other weird looking colors.
Cheers,
Jack

Nice looking gun.
As for me, I'm off with a load of guns to see the wizard in Des Moines for Pheasant Fest. Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho.

Bruce, why not haul them to Littlejohn's and see if they bring the big buck?

Did Mickey Rooney actually own a CHE Parker?? My favorite from his era is the great Humphrey DeForest Bogart--I have heard he owned a high grade 20bore LC Smith, and like to shoot skeet. Also very intelligent, a chess master who used to hustle that board game supreme while waiting for the infamous "Cattle Calls" before his career took off. He didn't have to fake the opening scene at the chess board in my all-time fav: Casablanca--

Francis, I believe the Bogart Smith was on display at a shoot this summer.

CHE SOLD 2000
TROJAN SOLD 1400
(if I got it right, they roll over pretty fast)
I guess on-line bidders were the only ones who would have had to start at 6400 on the Trojan :)

I took a trip down to Little John's to look at the Parkers. The CHE wasn't there at the time but with 26 1/4" barrels and a break in the wrist that needed re-doing it couldn't have been pretty.
The only gun that look interesting was a GHE 28 but also with a dent repaired or a very odd corrosion spot on the left barrel it wasn't that interesting.
